ADD/ADHD | Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

ADHD is a disorder that can be first dated back to 1902. For the next 80 years, it was not recognized with the name ADHD, it was just an issue that some kids had where they couldn't sit still. ADHD is a disorder that does not affect the way a person takes in learning, and will not affect how smart one can be. People who suffer from ADHD have much trouble staying on task and putting their mid to one thing and doing it without getting distracted and off task in the process. In comparison to other people, who can easily complete a task without being distracted by something, ADHD prevents people from completing tasks without off-roading at some point. Although people with ADHD primarily get distracted in most tasks, they also have things that they are able to complete with no issues and no distractions. People who suffer from ADHD also have a hard time piecing together information. For example, they may have all the part of an essay understood and ready to be incorporated into the essay, but not know how to piece it together properly so hat the piece makes sense. Another common trait in people who have ADHD is that they have trouble managing their emotions. For example, something small like the sound of someone chewing may affect a person with ADHD much more than it would affect a person who is not diagnosed with ADHD. Instead of handling situation in a calm manner, the person may be filled with anger and get aggressive . Lastly, a person with ADHD is often found getting distracted when they make up stories in their head and think about things that are off task. While completing homework, a child with ADHD may be thinking about a TV show or something they ate that morning or what they are going to be having for dinner instead of working hard to compete the task. A child with ADHD described having the disorder as being a runner who is really good at sprinting and really bad at long distance. This is because child with ADHD may have no problems completing short and easy tasks, but when asked to focus for long periods of time, they are unable to do so without getting off task.
