Two things that I learnt are:

1) when you are generally around people who have a different accents we start to adapt and speak in that same accent

One thing I would like to know more is that why when people have a identity crisis don’t ask for help like Ms Michelle when she was having a identity crisis between her British and singaporean self.

Two things I’ve learned

1) most singaporean are shocked by Britain speaking Singlish.

2) spending a long time in another country allow you to learn the ways the people living there speaks

One thing that I would like to learn is that how she is able to cope with her switching of accents.

1) that the trouble may be common with citizens from other country staying in Singapore having trouble thinking of which language she should speak

2) Singapore is more than a diverse CMIO( chinese, Malay, Indian and others) it can be a administrative tool for the government to manage policies on the races

One thing i want to know is other than the CMIO being an administrative tool to manage the rules on races can it also do other things ,other than the policies.

Two things I have learnt from the article and one thing I would like to know more about are:

1) Firstly , i learnt that if you stayed in a place where everything is completely different , you will get used to it and start to use different accents and be more culturally appropriate around those people.

2. How would you feel if there is phone ban in Regent Secondary School where you have to surrender your phones from the start of school until the day ends? Why would you feel so?

Firstly , one opinion I agree with the article is that having the phone ban is a good idea as it has reduced the number of students sneaking out of class and school which is a good thing as when students sneak out or skip class and meet somewhere it then becomes a safety risk.

Secondly, if I was to surrender my phone in Regent I will feel a little bit of discomfort as normally if I have any last minute school activity which I was not informed of until the last minute I can at least call my parents to let them know but other then that I will be fine because we are not supposed to be using phones during school hours so it will help reduce students being distracted by their phones.

One opinion I agree on

I agree with Ms Keri Rodrigues, as I also think that phone bans are not effective and that it teaches us nothing, and that there are better solutions to the problem instead of putting a phone ban.

If regent banned phone usage in school, I would be disappointed as I use my phone in school daily to easily check my timetable that I took a screenshot of in my phone. I would also not be able to message my parents if I needed to update them of anything or message my friends

i think that phone bans are not as effective as they are many ways phones benefit us in school like a last minute appointment or when your parents text you something urgent

if regent were to take my phone, i would be very sad and angry as my phone is my own private property and i would need it on my daily basis

One opinion from the article I agree upon is that without phones less cyberbullying will take place; having less access to phones reduces the amount of arguments or unecessary aggression that takes place online. First: Phone ban does not lower the amount of time students interact with their devices, as even if the phones are banned, the students will still used them if not more after school and even resort to using a “dummy phone” so that they can sneak in their phones to school.

Second:I would surrender my phone , but it will get very boring for me as I like to listen to music during breaks, and without my phone, I can only listen to the others chitchatting around me which I found very annoying sometimes.

2. i would be very upset if there was a phone ban in regent. firstly, i make it a habit to text one of my parents when i have reached school to let them know im safe. not having my phone would result in me not being able to text my parents. secondly, many of my friends and i play online games together during our recess or lunch breaks. not having our phones wouldtake away our way of bonding and socialising. i have made many friends through our mutual interest in specific games, and they are now one of my closest friends.

If regent was to have a phone ban,I personally won’t be very affected as I in my primary school there was already a phone ban so I am used to not using my phone during school hours.But other than that I would be a little affected due to me not being able to use my phone to text schoolmates, teachers or family members.

1) I have not seen anyone who has been offered vape. However I think the appropriate action taken has to be that the student who is offered the vape should decline and inform a trusted adult about the incident.
