The conventional use of aerial shot with the combination of establishing shot is effective in the way it creates a sinister atmosphere as it shows to the audience the location the film is set in, which is a rough, suburb area this is also conveyed through the location (mise-en scene) where the houses aesthetically look poor by that I mean not maintained as the front yard of all the houses seem to be outgrown which conveys an unwelcoming feeling. This is conventional for the narrative, as the victims are shown to enter in an unwelcoming, abandoned like, rough area conventionally where the psychological horrific events occur in.

The use of high angle connotes their loneliness as it shows that they (victims) are entering an isolated area. It also suggests that they are leading into trouble because the angle suggests their insignificance. High angles are conventionally used in horror films to signify their levels of importance. This represents the victims stereotypically as being small.

The use of location is very conventional for the narrative of the psychological horror film sub-genre, it also an element of iconography as conventionally you will see many abandoned empty homes and quiet streets like areas where there seems to be no sign of life around. The use of this is effective in creating a horrific feeling the cracked ground connotes a sense of evil which signifies to the audience that they are entering somewhere sinister which build up the tension and suspense, thus through this it intrigues the audience, making them want to take action and watch more to find out what happens.

There is unconventional use of high-key lighting. Despite of this it is still effective in creating a horrifying feeling, the high-key lighting allows the audience to see the use of location, empty abandoned houses and empty streets. This signifies that there seems to be no sign of life, which connotes death and mystery because usually there is at least one person outside during the day; it seems a little 'too empty'. This is however conventional for a horror film narrative as conventionally where the bad things take place is in the loneliest / most isolated of places.

There is use of rule of thirds, this is conventional and is effective in guiding the audience through the trailer. The empty / abandoned like houses are placed on the primal optical area which is where their eyes would draw to first. From their point of view the audience would see these mysterious homes, which would then connote to them that there is something sinister about the street. The audience will then notice the car (prop) that is placed on the third left of the page (dominant area) and overall they will feel on edge as they know the victims are getting into trouble, which interests the audience into watching more because of the build up in tension they sense.

Again a conventional use of mid-shot is used to capture the terrified facial expression of the victim. The mid-shot allows the audience to see her facial expression clearly, it also enables them to focus on her shocked face in greater detail. This also creates the idea that the victims are being watched.
This allows the audience to see this intense emotion and through this it builds greater suspense. This is conventional in the narrative to have various mid-shots used to capture an abundance of shocked / terrified intense emotions and responses because it effectively enables the audience to become intrigued, emotionally connects the audience with the characters and it captures their attention.
Through this it creates a stereotypical representation of the victim and in addition with her gender. As a victim she is stereotypically portrayed as weak and on the edge, and as a woman she is portrayed in a stereotypical way as being emotional.

There is a conventional use of master shot in conjunction with a high angle. This allows the audience to see the interior of the (location) bathroom of the house, that conveys the idea of isolation because the room is empty and the door is open which is conventional for the genre, thus creating a horror / thrilling theme. The use of composition is also effective in communicating the dominance of characters, the conventional rule of thirds is used, the criminal breaking in is placed on the left side (primal optical area) which signifies his dominance. It creates a stereotypical representation of the criminal, as they are portrayed to dominant and skillful which is shown through the use of master shot which allows the audience to see him / her jumping. The use of low angle is also conventional for its genre as this allows to effectively signify to the audience who is the most important role in the narrative.
