Jimmy Carter has lived in the same home for over 60 years. In 1981, when the Carters left the White House, they returned to the only home they have ever owned, at 209 Woodlawn Avenue, purchased in 1961. I find this amusing that he lived in the same house since he bought it.

During the 1977 inaugural parade, the Carters walked from the Capitol to the White House, the first time a president ever walked the pavement of Pennsylvania Avenue after his inauguration–defying the advice of the secret service and starting a new tradition continued by every president since. I find this interesting has he denied protection to do this starting a new trend.
