In what ways has your protagonist changed and evolved?
At the start of the novel, Cassia was very shy and timid. Now, she is stronger and has her own opinions. At the beginning she believed in the society and was on their side. Now she knows that the society is wrong and is turning against them. She has become so strong and powerful over the course of this novel. She is not afraid to break rule and stand up for what she believes in.
pg. 284 " For a moment, I contemplate throwing the datapod into one of the sinks, letting it drown."
I picked this quote because it shows that Cassia is stronger, but not completely strong.

What social commentary do you think your author was making with this novel? What is the author saying or warning about today's world?
I feel like the author is predicting a future. The author mentions "outer provinces" in this novel. I think that the outer provinces are meant to be us. When I say us I mean today's society. I feel like the author is trying to show us that some of us might be picked for this "perfect society" and some of us might not get picked. The author is showing a world that is being completely controlled by the government. The government gets really suspicious with Ky and Cassia.
pg. 301 "Don't you feel it? Something's changing. Something's happening."
The society will change anything if it looks suspicious. They have no trouble with ruining people lives, which I think is awful.

What aspects of the Dystopian society are found in your novel? What statement is the author trying to make by utilizing that particular aspect? What is the change that your character/s are attempting to bring about? Do you think they will be successful and if so, will the change bring what they hope?
My novel shows a lot of control. The society controls every aspect of their life. The society chooses who they marry, what they eat, and what they do 24/7. My character wants to be matched with Ky instead of Xander. She believes her true soulmate is Ky. There is no way that the society will let Cassia marry Ky because it wasn't a match.
pg. 224 "His hands are not yours to watch."
This quote shows how Cassia wants Ky instead of Xander.
I chose this picture because it shows a love triangle, and that is Cassia's problem.

Thinking back to the aspects of the Hero's Journey that we studied during the Odyssey, What are some of the elements that are also utilized in your novel and with your protagonist?
In my novel, I have seen a lot of challenges and temptations. Cassia is having challenges with her matching because she is falling in love with someone else. She is tempted to tell Ky she likes him, but she thinks it will mess up their relationship. I am seeing call to adventure as well. Cassia likes to do dangerous things. She is going through a lot of hardships at the moment and is trying to over come them.
I chose this picture because I feel like it showed and adventurous person.
pg. 242 "In some ways I am ready for this. I expected it. No one can break as many rules as I have and not get caught somehow, sometime."
This quote speaks to me because it shows that she is a rule breaker.

What and how are your protagonist resisting? Is he/she experiencing success or roadblocks, and how is the success or roadblocks being handled?
My protagonist is breaking a couple of rules. In the society, they can only have one hundred of a specific thing. For example they only have one hundred poems to read, or one hundred paintings to look at. Cassia's grandfather loved poetry and over the years Cassia has loved it too. Right before Cassia's grandfather died, he gave her a poem and it was not one of the one hundred. Having an object from the outside is breaking an extreme rule. Cassia read and memorized the poem and then disposed it.
pg. 104
"Do you think I'm crazy for wanting to keep the poems?"
This quote shows that Cassia loved the poems and wanted to keep them because they meant so much to her.

What are the common ideas taking place in your novel? In what ways do the common ideas effect your characters choices or actions?
A common idea in my novel is questioning. My main character is starting to question things about the matching process. I think that she believes that there has been some error with her matching. She is confused on why there are so many rules in the society. She is questioning almost every decision her parents make. Cassia isn't very brave and is concerned about the consequences coming along with breaking rules.
pg. 105
"The pattern in my neighborhood has shifted this evening; something is wrong."
Cassia can tell something fishy is going on.

They haven't described her physical features, but I can tell that she is very careless. She doesn't care about what the society is going to do. She has very little fear.
pg. 128 "I lingered too long at the work cite and was late to class."
In their society they have many strict rules, she just broke on of them.

What theme topics are you seeing in your novel? Explain a bit how your protagonist is reacting to these topics.
A common theme topic that I am seeing is breaker. My main character does not like to follow the rules at all. She thinks that they are stupid and cruel. Another theme topic is bravery. Breaking the rules is really dangerous to the human. She could get in some serious trouble. Cassia is very brave and does not care about the consequences that come along with breaking rules.
pg 136 "Shhh," my father says
This shows how secretive they have to be in this society.

What aspects of Dystopian control is being presented in your novel? How are the characters handling them? Do any of these aspects of Dystopian Control resemble conditions happening in our world today?
In my Dystopian novel there are a lot of testings and stats. The Society uses calculations to estimate your next move. It is normal for the characters to be controlled because that is what they're used to. They have pills to take for numerous things. The Officials control their lives.
pg. 115 " I sent a port message to the Officials a few minutes ago."
I chose this quote because it shows how the characters have to report anything that is unusual or strange.

In the Dystopian Elements handout, there are six examples of conflicts the protagonist/main character might got through. These are not the only conflicts the character might encounter, but just a start. Identify at least one internal conflict your main character is experiencing.
I think that the main character believes and feels that something is terribly wrong. Her case is very unique for their establishment. She has been matched with someone from her city. Her matching is with her life long best friends which is very odd. She is happy that she is matched with someone she already knows very well. I feel like she believes there is an error in the system. She also is a little suspicious about the whole matching process. All the girls get a box of facts about their matching. Cassia already knows everything about her matching Xander. Her box is almost useless.
pg. 15 "Your Match is here this evening," the hostess says, smiling.
That quote shows that her match is someone from her city.

Describe the setting of your Dystopian novel. Is it similar to anywhere you have visited, viewed, read about, heard about?

I am around page fifty of my novel. The book hasn't really given any information about the setting. I believe that the time zone is futuristic. I'm pretty sure that this takes place in a big city, due to all of the matchings. This book is really similar to Divergent because of the ceremonies that take place in each book. In Divergent, there is a choosing ceremony. In matched it is called the matching ceremony.

pg. 8 "As we step off the air train and walk toward City Hall, my parents each link an arm through mine."
pg. 21 "He doesn't want me to break curfew."
I picked the first quote because it showed that the story is taking place in the future. We don't have air trains right now.
I chose the second quote because it kinda shows how the city is being controlled. They have a very strict curfew as well as very strict rules.
I chose this picture because it is how I imagine the city to look like. Very modern and big because the population is growing rapidly.
