I feel bad for Josh at this moment, we as readers finally know what he has been going through emotionally. I think he gets blamed for his cousins acts which is wrong and he's just had enough. When he started crying I felt really bad for him. I think if people didn't associate him with being a bad person because of his cousin, he would be nicer. I think he really does have a good heart on the inside and he's just really misunderstood. I think he was used to just accepting peoples hatred towards him and his family but at this point he just snapped. Josh is a lot like Caitlin, their only person who understands the both of them is Michael. I think when Caitlin had the meltdown about the monkey bars, Josh saw it as a threat. He might have thought that Michael wouldn't like him anymore after Caitlin said all those bad things about Josh. Caitlin is probably missing having a sibling in her life and now she has Michael. And this might not be the only reason she's happy about this. She could be happy because big sisters are great role models. If they're good, they teach their younger siblings how to navigate through life and are always there for their siblings. Since most people find Caitlin to be disturbing and weird, she's happy and feels glowy on the inside because Michael doesn't just tolerate her. Michael likes her personality and wants to be like her when he grows up. He wants to learn from her experiences and learn how to be a good person from her. Since Michael's mom is gone, I think Caitlin is perfect for him. Since Devon is gone, I think Michael is perfect for Caitlin. They have built such a big bond of trust with each other that he feels proud to call Caitlin his older sister. Even though they aren't related by blood, they still love each other.
