In Chapter 7 by Brown (2024) Informed consent is identified as both and ethical and legal foundation that strives to protect clients and therapist. Informed consent was implemented to provide clients with information regarding their consent to treatment. This was also important for Marriage and Family Therapist to provide ethical and legal protection. Informed consent also provides clients with the ability to make a choice and see the benefits and risks to engaging in therapy.
