As his job as a Will collector is very 'corporate' we felt it was appropriate for him to be seen in a suit at all times. Also by keeping the beard on Charlie, connotations of corruption for the character are made visible to the audience. We have also included braces as this was a very common convention in the 1950's.
The main prop we notice with Clive is the Will of Mr Roper. As he is a wealthy man, he can too be seen wearing a suit, and in one seen he is seen wearing loafers. We felt that if we included this small detail, it would add to the ideology of him being a powerful and wealthy, wearing luxury items which are not a necessity. As you can see we have stuck with the traditional conventions of costume when it comes to the male protagonists, making sure they wear suits.

One aim of ours from this project was to give the production a modern twist. We feel we can portray this through the way our femme fatale dresses, whilst still achieving the traditional conventions of the dress sense being seductive and manipulativeat the same time. 
So some examples of the clothing we have decided on which could still portray the convention of seductiveness is the application of knee high boots and a red crop styled top. I am playing the character, and as the same as the other male characters I will be  wearing a suit. However one thing we have suggested is to have a slightly distressed suit as it gives connotations of the detective being slightly worn down and stressed. We are still in debate as to whether a beard should be grown out as we want to provide a modern twist to the production, or we go with the traditional conventions of a detective and opt for the clean shaven/light stubble look. The personality of the detective is meant to be quite stern and blunt, almost grumpy like. 
In terms of props for the detective, we are considering the use of cigarettes as this was a very common theme.
