This organization reveals truths of the injustices people just like us (we are all human, after all, even if we live miles and miles apart) face every single day. They keep an eye on those who may take these people's rights from them, and petition world leaders and politicians to make these wrongs right, using the power they have to make the world a better place to live in for every single person.

Human Rights Watch was formed in 1978. Its purpose at its creation was to bring attention to abusive governments all over the world and take action to improve the conditions for those living in these countries.

Here in the United States, it is easy for us to forget how privileged we truly are. We take for granted things we use every day. Not everyone has access to three meals a day, or even one. There are people who could be killed for speaking out against the government. Here, freedom of speech is one of our basic rights. We have freedom of religion, when in other countries that can be mandated by law. But once we think of everything we have - and how we still manage to want more - we can appreciate what we have, and find it in our hearts to help others who have less than we do.
