Having one person that is trying to hide things in your company, especially the CEO, like finances can really hurt your company. We saw GE's stock go down a ton when they had to report what they had been hiding on the books. Sometimes these disasters cause the company to really look themselves in the mirror though. Once they decide to actually make a change, the company and new management will do so.

I learned that the more a company can make products and systems themselves the better off they will be in the future when considering costs and other factors. The more self-sustained your company is the better they are at fighting risks. It takes away risks of outside factors.

What I learned from this case is how a company's success within the current year, as well in the future years, relies entirely on the people in charge and their ethical morals. A corrupt leader will set a company back even when they are not in the top executive spot (CEO) years after they are no longer in the high position. The people working within the industry, especially the new CEO, will have to spend their time trying to get back to normal before they can think about taking the next step for the industry. Corrupt leaders cause long-term issues that can even sometimes lead to bankruptcy in worst case scenarios, and this case shows how troublesome one or two bad leaders could be detrimental.

As a CEO all decisons have some sort of consequence and some advantages to them. As a CEO you have to determine what decision is going to creat the most value for your company, and that might be selling some of your assests. Those assests could end up being smaller businesses that you own.

I learned that although the businesses may seem unrelated they are very well related in many ways. It's important for businesses to invest in other businesses that related to their operations.
