The first pillar is to empower women as key change agents. This is because The Hunger Project states that women are mostly the ones who provide the basic needs for the family but the resources are denied. It's important to also know that 2/3 of the illiterate population are females. The second pillar is to mobilize communities to do self-reliant actions. The last pillar is too engage the local governments so they support the villages along the way.

1.When I was learning about The Hunger Projects approach of giving the community the opportunity to change there own problems, I thought that it was a good idea because it gives people a feeling of satisfaction if they participated in something that makes a difference for them and others.

2. The organization gets together various villages and make them into one large village in which they can help which seems like a good idea to help many villages. If there are different villages, sometimes there is different customs and ways of living that it might be uncomfortable for other people. Although it wouldn't be that different if close villages are together.

3.I think that giving women the chance for them to be change agents is a good idea because they are now taking a very important role. This is important because in villages or rural areas women don't really have the opportunity to do what they are capable of doing.

4. There was also criticism on the organization because they claimed to end world hunger by 1997 and didn't achieve there goal. The Hunger Project extended there goal and want to end world hunger by 2030. I think that although they didn't do what they say, they are still focused on the goal to end world hunger which is what matters the most.

5. I thought that The Hunger Project was just going to give food supplies to people and villages. They also try to change the villages in a positive way that gives them a future. For example they are supported financially and establish programs to provide education. They also have a workshop called Vision, Commitment and Action Workshop which helps the communities build leadership skill and each person has a plan that they want to achieve independently. The organization wants to prepare the people for life.

I chose this organization because I wanted to get in depth into what the organization do to fight hunger. I've watched many videos of people not having enough food and read many articles that explain how it impacts people really negatively. Some of the consequence are stunting in kids because of malnutrition and etc. I was more intrigued in this organization because of there statement saying that it's possible to end world hunger by 2030. I knew that it wouldn't solve world hunger by just giving food but they would have a more strategic way of solving world hunger. I also felt closer since it was operating in Mexico where some of my family members live. Although, my family members don't suffer in extreme poverty other people in Mexico are so it's helping my people and many more around the world.
