"Quite simply, writing is both a process of doing critical thinking and a product that communicates the results of critical thinking" (Bean, 2011).

Thinking critically helps remove my thoughts from the subject to first have an unbiased fact of what it is before deciding on the tone I will take with the writing.

If I am reading a story that won't stop saying the same line, plot point, or even if a character twist is predictable, I will usually put the book down.
I found this to be relevant in a couple of assignments for my German Folklore class this semester. Sometimes when analyzing a fairytale it's hard to stop talking about it. I found this task especially hard when I have grown up hearing certain fairy tales and feel a connection to them. I can usually fix this issue by editing my work into something that covers everything I want to say, without saying too much.

My German Folklore class really opened me up to this idea. With help from the teacher and other students I was able to see some different perspectives about the stories I had grown up hearing. They were not all positive. Learning the view others had taken on these stories encouraged me to consider problems I had been blinded to before.
