Congress Does a lot for our Country. Most people, I hope know, Congress helps deterime what laws can be made by following the Consitution as a rubric. Congress writes, edits and even negoites with citizens propsals of a new law; in perticular Miss STanley, a normal American citizen proposed a bill to have equal writes in a work place, no matter the sex of a person. Congress aswell hold civil powers in a court system. Such as the incident with Bill CLinton; He lied under oath about a affair to the senate. Special powers are giving to Congress as well, such as vetoing war propsals. This happedend in article 17, when Japan attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941.

congress works in several ways. They can legislate, make laws, and edit said laws. For example, they would discuss the need for a stronger bill that would strengthen voting rights for all American citizens, and agree or disagree on acts or laws being made. They also have connections to the President and assist in approving or disaproving requests from the president, like when they agreed with Lincoln's picks for the new generals during the Civil war, or when the Senate approves treaties from the president. The congress can also investigate. there was a situation in which there was a special subcommittee that had to decide if cheating on a television game show would be handled by the house of representatives or the state where the show took place. They also investigate when it comes to voting, and figuring out if people are voting or not.

Congress legislates by writing, editing and negotiating laws. An example of them preforming such an action is, when they approved an act to protect trade and commerce. They also have the power to preform investigations. An example of this is when a judiciary committee launched an investigation to see if all people were getting their opportunity to vote. Another big thing congress has is special powers relating to our president. An example of this was when Lincoln picked a general for the civil war, he picked it, but congress had to approve.
