         <description><![CDATA[<div>- said to have been painted by Saint Luke the Evangelist on a tabletop built by Jesus while Mary recounted his life<br>- said that Saint Helen, while looking for the cross, found the painting and gave it to Constantine<br>- credit for saving Constantinople from the Saracen army was given to the portrait<br>- Charlemagne got it, then gave it to Prince Leo of Ruthenia, who kept it until the 11th century<br>- a king prayed to Mary at the painting to save his city and small army from enemy troops, the enemy troops reportedly started to attack one another<br>- delivered to Poland in the 14th century on request from a dream of Prince Ladislaus of Opola<br>- Tartars attacked, shot the painting, and the prince fled with the painting to Czestochowa<br>- Hussites tried to take the monastery where the painting was, could not move the painting, stabbed it twice, then fell over and died<br>- 17th century the monastery was under attack by the Swedes, held out through a 40 day siege<br>- 17th century the painting was crowned the Queen of Poland<br>- 1920 Russian invasion of Poland, the Russians saw Our Lady in the clouds above the Vistula river and decided nope<br><br></div>]]></description>
