This is a really accessible guide to the different statistical tests you may use in bioscience research. It takes you through how to do each test in Excel, SPSS, Minitab or R so you can become confident in your statistical abilities in whatever software package you are using.

Laerd Statistics can be useful if you're using SPSS. Download this Google Chrome browser extension and turn it on to temporarily block distracting websites and social media while you work. Do 25 minutes of distraction-free work, followed by 5 minutes of break and repeat as necessary. You can add Strict Workflow to your browser here.

Forest (Phone App):
Download Forest and let a forest grow on your phone screen while you work! Trees will grow while you focus on your work, but if you change apps or use your phone, the plants will die and you'll have to start again. Be creative and have a go at challenging yourself to stay focused for a work session. Regardless of when you do return, you must be tested for COVID – and found negative – before you interact with others or use campus facilities such as libraries, study spaces, laboratories etc.

You do not have to have had a negative test result to access your University accommodation, but you must minimise contact with others and not use campus facilities until you have received two negative lateral flow test results. Tests are now available to book.

Students wanting to use the service are advised to book two lateral flow tests, three days apart.

Remember, if you are currently showing Covid-19 symptoms, you must not book an asymptomatic test. Instead, you must book a test through the usual NHS Test and Trace Service.

With the UK in lockdown, it's so important to look after our physical and mental health, especially as University students.

Over the course of our fundraiser, we'll be asking you every Sunday to record the distance/number of steps you've covered that week through any physical activity including walking, running, cycling and swimming. Even if its just steps around the house, every little helps!

Each month, the top distance contributor will win an incredible prize - we have loads of amazing Love The Oceans merchandise!!
AND at the end of the challenge, the overall top distance contributor will have the privilege of NAMING the nest that we sponsor!!!

The average person does 2,000 steps per mile, so our target distance is equivalent to a whopping 15,232,000 steps!
We need YOU to join the challenge!

Our mission ends in Jangamo Bay, Mozambique where our incredible friends at Love The Oceans are based.

Our fundraising target of £400 will enable Leeds BioSoc to sponsor an entire turtle nest, covering the cost of employing 3 guards on 8-hour shifts to ensure 24/7 guarding of the nest from laying to hatching.
