1. In the book Rashad faces powerlessness and violence. Mostly because, Paul is a cop and has a lot of authority over a regular civilian. So Paul could beat him up and not get in trouble and Rashad has no power so that is violence and powerlessness.
Quote: "If you're on the neutrual side, you have chosen the side of the opporessor."
2. The oppressor is Paul Galluzzo the Police Officer and the oppressed is the civilian of color, Rashad. The oppression looks like when Paul is beating him up because he looks like he is stealing and the color of his skin and the way he wears his clothes matter.
3. It relates to the real world because every week in the USA 2 people of black color die a week. This is a serious issue and happens a lot and police officers usually get off scot-free and in no trouble.

1. In the book there is two type of oppression the main character faced. Rashad got beaten by the cop he was powerless and could not defend himself against police officer and was violated.
2. The oppressor is the police cop Paul Galluzzo, who is oppressing a teenager viciously. The boys is helpless and cannot fight back to defend himself.
3. This oppression, i can relate to the real world because, in real african americans have been brutally beaten up by police cops several times.
