The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the world’s oldest stories, exploring timeless themes of power, friendship, and mortality. In the first three chapters, we meet Gilgamesh, a mighty but oppressive king, whose arrogance is challenged by the arrival of Enkidu, a wild man created to balance him. Their deep friendship transforms Gilgamesh, setting him on a path of self-discovery. However, tragedy strikes with Enkidu’s death, forcing Gilgamesh to confront the limits of human power and the inevitability of mortality. These chapters invite us to reflect on what it means to lead, live fully, and face our own impermanence.
