Ans 1- Information literacy consists of 5 components in the following: identity, Find, Evaluate, Apply, and acknowledge. According to my vantage point, it means being able to find and use information from various sources, such as websites, books, journals, and databases. For example, if you’re looking for specific content, the first step is to locate the information. You need to know where to find it, like where to access that specific content, whether on the internet, in books, journals, databases, etc. Once you find the information, you must comprehend its content and evaluate whether it’s trustworthy or providing inaccurate information. After analyzing the information, you can use it to solve any problems make decisions wisely, or able to find the answer from any source that you are using. The final step is to share and present the information, whether through verbal or non-verbal communication, such as in a presentation. Additionally, if you’re using someone else’s work or their notions, you must properly cite the source, make a reference list and give credit to someone’s work in order to avoid plagiarism.

Q.2 - How will you need information literacy skills in the specific industry in which you will work after graduation? 

Ans 2- If I choose a specific industry in which I will work after graduation, it would be graphic design. There are several ways that I need information literacy in this industry. For instance, to stay up to date with design trends and techniques, there are various software we use in this domain, like Adobe Illustration, Photoshop, InDesign, etc. All this software gets updated every time, and nascent tools appear in these applications so that we can grasp the knowledge instantly. If I am unaware of how to use this tool, most software offers built-in tutorials and demos to quickly learn new tools about the usage of tools, or if I want to obtain in-depth information, I can use youtube tutorial videos explaining software features, techniques, and shortcuts. Suppose I want to explore design inspirations. In that case, I can search through social media platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook, Behance, Twitter etc or even use traditional media like magazines, and newspapers etc, if I need access to design resources and tools, like images, fonts, templates, which will help me navigate through platforms where I can find various websites for using high-quality images like Shutterstock, Bixby, Freepik, Unsplash etc. if I want access to download any free photos or taking a subscription for paid images. For templates, I can use the Canva app, or if I have no clue about the apps, I could search on Google/Chrome for design resources. It requires research if I find any applications, and subsequently, we evaluate the process by learning the tutorials on YouTube of any design tools. In the company, we have to fathom the client's needs like what specific design they want from us to design; they inform you about the information requirements for design, communicate the ideas to the client, and ask multiple questions about their design requirements like dimensions, colour modes, resolution etc. on this basis we apply the design on how I am utilizing the design strategies after all the research that we did. We can share our design process with anyone, specifically those who are very well versed in this domain. We receive reviews, it could be our senior designer or professor of this domain, and make modifications based on the reviews, which can solve my problems. Furthermore, in the design industry, we need to show our work without plagiarizing. Eventually, we present our design to the world in the form of verbal or non-verbal communication to excel in our careers. All these steps consist of information literacy, which is identifying, finding, evaluating, applying and acknowledging the information throughout the process.

Q.3 - Give specific examples ( e.g. as a teacher, a chef, a business manager etc.) of the types of lifelong learning and research you will need to participate in as a successful employee in your specific field ( the program you are studying at Humber College) 

Ans 3- As a student in the Graphic Design program at Humber College, and ultimately as a successful graphic designer, I'll need to engage in ongoing lifelong learning to remain up-to-date in this field. For instance, Learning new software, tools, techniques, strategies etc . stay up-to-date with the latest updates and features in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, AterEffects, XD, Figma, Premier Pro, etc, where they release updates, where we mostly use YouTube tutorial videos or enroll in any certification courses to expand our knowledge or read design-based books where these examples are part of the research. We frequently explore design trends with colour theory, typography or design layouts and many more contents. For eg, I follow design influencers on Instagram to get inspiration from the design work that they create in the design industry to gain insights into upcoming trends. We use stock photography images from diverse sources. Or if we are ambiguous between two applications/apps, we can use Reddit as a source where a wider range of audiences give their recommendations as per their experience. If we are willing to learn any software, we can gain deep knowledge ge while enrolling in online diploma or certification courses like Skillshare, udemy, etc. There are assorted fields in this design industry, like web design, UI/Ux design, Illustrator, brand visual identity, etc. To learn more about their expertise, we can take suggestions from our professor/counsellor about which field to choose or where your interest lies or take online courses where they offer courses/modules based on this skill set. If you want to implement the design, you can attend workshops, webinars, meetings or any conferences. As a graphic designer, we can widen our knowledge by working in this set of domains or getting experienced in print materials like business cards, logo designs, posters, magazines, brochures, package designs, website designs, etc. As a designer, we have to avoid plagiarism, and our work must adhere to copyright laws. We showcase our artwork or portfolio using disparate platforms like Behance and dribble to potential clients and employers, the main motive for the portfolio is to gain visibility by everyone. With all this research, we can build our learning curve and become competent. To recapitulate, At Humber College, these skills are fostered through hands-on practice and exposure to real-world design challenges. Hence, I will be prepared for a successful and dynamic career as a graphic designer.

Ans 1 - I was not familiar with two things that are in the following:

1. Patchwriting: This means students are changing a few words or text. However, students mostly rely on the original text or source that they copy from the internet, students recreate the whole contexts from the original text and students replace the original text with the nascent ones and the rest remains the same, Students should always write in their own words and give credits to the original author who texted the content in their words.

2. Improper citation: It means that the student entirely copied the whole text or information from other sources where it is obligatory to mention the specific name of the author, publication year, and page number of the quotation, a student must give appropriate credit to their work for using their ideas. Students can create a reference section while writing content where they can include the link of the citation or sources. Students should use all forms of citation without missing accurate and partial citations. Its main purpose is to maintain academic integrity by giving appropriate credit to the original author.

Some of the academic familiarity that i am aware of is in the following:

First, I was aware of academic misconduct or academic dishonesty which consists of terms like plagiarism, cheating, copying, and ethical responsibility, all of these are identified as a common form of plagiarism.

It means that students are copying or stealing the ideas of someone's work without actually letting them know about it. Or students are stealing whole texts from other internet sources through the use of the internet where they can find all answers from any artificial websites.

Cheating is a dishonest behavior as an individual person, students are cheating on their assignments, any other work, or notes where they are putting their efforts primarily for getting good grades for themselves. And Ethical responsibility which means every student should be honest, trustful, and responsible for the fairness of their own work without indulging in any academic misconduct or dishonesty and should always give incentives for a positive academic environment. I should always give a proper reverence for my work without stealing the whole text from someone's work without the approval of instructors or professors. However, If I am using the sources from the websites, I will always mention the accurate citation to maintain academic integrity, trust, and respect. For instance, our instructor asked us to create a website and use images of our choice from the internet, including the citation which is the prerequisite condition for us to follow the rules and regulations. Eventually, I followed his instructions by placing all the links of citations or sources of the original author’s work or images that I used on the website for the purpose of maintaining academic integrity.

Ways of Preventing plagiarism :

1. First, I will not share my work or any other assignments with my classmates or colleagues before the due date of the assignment which will help me prevent my original work from being copied by others.

2. Consider my example, If I am using someone’s work from any source I should always include the proper and accurate citations by mentioning their appropriate names, publication year, and page number which is crucial to include terms for maintaining academic integrity.

3. I can seek clarification if I am deeply skeptical about plagiarism, I should always ask my professors or instructors before taking the risk of plagiarism.

4. I can avoid direct copy-paste which comes under the form of plagiarism. I can use the source or any other websites at a moderate level like Wikipedia in order to get the whole gist of the contexts and thereafter, I can write in my own words based on my expertise and vocabulary skills.

Ans 1 - I would say that I’m more of a high-context communicator because this style relies on implied, indirect communication, where we generally expect the listener or audience to understand the meaning without being explicitly stated. We often use tone of voice, gestures, facial/emotional expressions, eye contact, and body language, all of which are non-verbal cues that play great importance. Our relationship, trust with someone matters more than using direct words. High-context communication helps to build personal relationships because it fosters a shared understanding between people. For example, with my friends and family, we often have social interactions where they easily comprehend my messages without me needing to explain every detail, which strengthens our harmony.

For instance, my friend Emma. She was tired and feeling sleepy but was also preparing hard for a test she needed to take. I went to Starbucks and bought her coffee to help her stay awake and energized. I didn’t need to say anything because the emotional implication was understood through her body language and the nature of our friendship. I knew she needed a sense of comfort so she could keep studying. This shared experience carried meaning because we understood each other without needing to verbalize much. Another example is my friend Anna, who was crying in class after being scolded by our teacher for not paying attention. My other friends and I responded to her emotional cues by offering comfort, like hugging her, holding her hand, or simply sitting next to her. These non-verbal cues and touch conveyed care and understanding without needing to discuss why she was upset. The emotional support came from our shared history and mutual understanding. We didn’t have to say, “Why are you crying? I care about you,” because it was already understood. It was intuitive, relying on emotional tone, shared experiences, and physical presence, things communicated rather than stated explicitly.

qualities that make it effective. Alternatively, identify a workplace document that can benefit from a redesign. Explain how you would redesign it.

Ans 1- The workplace document that I chose is email message. This email has several effective design qualities that make it clear and easy to read.

*First is the clear subject line that is the internship recommendation request informs the purpose that makes it easy to read about the specific topic like what the email is all about. Is it a request, complaint, suggestion, or advice etc.

*Second is salutation which begins hi, hello, dear in a friendly tone, it is used in a respectful way to address someone while writing an email.

*Third is an organized structure of the content that gives giving introduction about a specific topic like what is the purpose of this email then provides required information about the internship, qualifications, and recommendations and then a polite request is made after the content.

*Fourth is easy to read the paragraph containing well-structured clarity, necessary details making this email to scan and digest quickly. There are no ambiguities in the information provided in this email.

*Fifth is a polite closing like thanks conveying friendly enthusiasm without actually sounding demanding.

Benefits-

Ans 1- According to my opinion, teamwork and good communication skills are two strong aspects of working in my field of study, creating a balance of both features. In teamwork, we usually share ideas and engage in conversations where the contribution of each person matters the most. These aspects align with my culture, but individual contributions are also respected on the other side. This approach promotes creativity and problem-solving, which fosters a sense of harmony and builds connections with others. Communication and individual/independent efforts help me grow, learn from others, and develop a sense of responsibility. Furthermore , It boosts morale and fosters a sense of personal achievement. For example, in the graphic design field, people often share their unique ideas and create designs based on concepts discussed in conversations. If someone wants to express their creativity, the use of detailed conversation or providing specifics helps guide the design process. Moreover, Using questionnaires to understand what type of design is desired for a company can further solve the problem collectively. When working as a team, people bring diverse viewpoints and skills to the table, which can lead to more innovative solutions. Subsequently, by exchanging ideas, understanding the project’s goals, aligning on creative directions, and receiving feedback from clients (which is akin to exchanging viewpoints with the designer), open communication ensures that the final product meets the client's expectations. Working together toward a shared vision allows for brainstorming and problem-solving. Individual and independent efforts are driven by our skills, experiences, and personal style, where we can utilize our expertise to make design choices with the help of these approaches. Hence, these approaches are crucial in workplace communication which would motivate me most strongly to work in the field of my study and related to my culture.

Ans 1- Yes, I believe that businesses should include an apology in a letter to their customers for their mistakes/errors because it reflects the overall reputation of the company by taking responsibility and showing care for the customer’s experience. There should be harmony and trust developed, which can shift the focus from a negative (angry) tone to a positive (polite) tone. The tone and style should be respectful, sincere, polite, and benevolent, using appropriate words. Whether writing a letter or memo, we should always keep the message concise, clear, and to the point without making mistakes. It’s crucial to double-check the message before sending it to customers. I expect that customers should receive an honest apology so that the relationship between both parties can be maintained in the future. A sincere apology can help keep the customer’s trust and loyalty. By Correcting the mistake can repair any damage to the customer’s perception of the company. The tone should be calm, polite, and empathetic in order to solve the issue rather than using an angry, disrespectful tone which could escalate and worsen the issue to the customer’s feelings. When a business writes an apology letter, it should be concise, clear, and to the point, not too lengthy to read and avoid redundancies or over-explaining mistakes or excuses, but include consistent and relevant details. Long paragraphs in an apology letter can be ambiguous and may seem insincere to customers. All the customers should be treated with respect. There should be respectful communication between both parties as this can promote positive reputation and loyalty.

Sometimes, when we look at a problem, we don't readily recognize that there are many stakeholders that are either affected by the problem or that add to the problem. Consider the problem of littering. At first, we might think that the only people responsible for this problem are the ones who throw their trash on the ground or out their car windows. However there are many other people, businesses, organizations, and political levels that are affected by the problem or add to it.

Ans- A stakeholder is anyone with an interest in a business, organization, or project, including individuals, groups, or organizations. They may be part of the organization or have no direct connection to it. Common stakeholders include customers, employees, investors, suppliers, board members, community groups, and government agencies. Stakeholder capitalism is a model where businesses focus on benefiting all stakeholders, not just shareholders.

1. Students are the main stakeholders because they create waste like plastic, paper, food, and cans. Many do not follow waste management rules, which leads to excessive waste. Teachers are also primary stakeholders as they educate students on sustainability and reducing waste in schools and workplaces. The school administration plays a key role by enforcing and implementing waste reduction policies.

   
   

2. Secondary stakeholders include parents, who teach their children to develop good habits and provide reusable materials. Government agencies like the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Department of Agriculture (DOA) help by creating waste policies and promoting sustainability in schools and colleges or any other educational institutions.

   
   

3. Key stakeholders include NGOs and environmental groups like the Rainforest Alliance, Earthjustice, WWF, and Greenpeace. They support sustainability efforts. The Ministry of Education also helps by creating new rules and enforcing policies for better waste management. All the key stakeholders raise awareness about the environmental impact of waste.

   • Employees: These are the team members who work directly on the project, contributing to its completion from start to finish.

   • Customers: Customers and end-users are stakeholders because they are impacted by the project's quality and delivery time.

     Suppliers and vendors: External suppliers and vendors provide essential goods and services for the project, making them important stakeholders.

   • Investors and shareholders: Investors and shareholders care about the return on their investment and should always be kept satisfied.

   • Local communities: Some projects affect the local community by creating jobs, boosting the economy,also improving health and safety.

   • Government entities: The government is a stakeholder because it collects taxes and regulates the project, even if it doesn’t directly participate.

   
   

Prioritization:

People enterprise architecture to help identify and create a stakeholder registry, then create a matrix to assess and prioritize each stakeholder's influence and impact on the project. Influence refers to how much a stakeholder can affect the decisions of others involved and categorize stakeholders into these groups:

• Manage closely: Involve them throughout the solution development process.

• Monitor: Keep track of them, as their classification may change during the project.

Systems thinking highlights that everything is is linked, and small adjustments in one part of a system can cause significant effects elsewhere. This aspect goes against the notion of independent events, encouraging a broader view.

Example: In a local setting, individual well-being might seem like a separate issue. But, improving public healthcare can have many effects,it leads to a healthier group of people, lower expenses for hospitals, and can even make workers more efficient.

2.Feedback Loops

Feedback loops are crucial to systems thinking. Positive loops increase changes, while negative systems are stable. Both kinds of feedback feedback affect how systems change over time.

Example: Within a business, if a company improves customer service, it might cause higher customer happiness, which creates good reviews and, in turn, draws in in more customers. This is a positive feedback loop. Conversely, if a company has to save money, customer complaints could increase, hurting the company's image and eventually impacting sales, which would be a negative feedback loop.

3. Emergence

Emergence refers to the situation where a system shows behaviors or properties not present in any single part in the interaction between parts. It's about understanding that the whole is more than just the parts.

Example: In nature, a flock of birds performs synchronized movements that no single bird could have planned. The patterns that come from the group’s interaction, like avoiding predators, can't be predicted by studying single birds. This shows emergent behaviour.

Systems thinking helps us to see that everything is connected and our actions have consequences. It encourages us to look at the bigger picture and find long-term solutions rather than focusing on small details. By understanding cause and effect, we can make better choices for the future.

1. KEY TAKEAWAY-

The ability to communicate successfully in a professional situation is the most significant lesson I took away from this training. It became much simpler to write emails, business and cover letters with the appropriate tone and format. I now feel more comfortable sending polite, straightforward communications, which will improve my future interactions with clients, coworkers, and employers in my field of Graphic Design (Design industry).

2. CHALLENGING TASK-

Using and comprehending the ACCPAQ and PAIBOC models was one of the most challenging aspects. Remembering every step and accurately applying them was first perplexing. ACCPAQ assisted me in structuring professional communication by emphasizing delivery, audience, and purpose. Writing persuasively was made simpler by PAIBOC, but it was difficult to break everything down and put it all together. I improved with time with guidance and practice.

3. SKILLS USING AFTER HUMBER-

It was really helpful to learn how to compose business like emails and memos. Any job will have them, and I now know how to write them politely and clearly. For instance, I may compose an email to reply to a manager's request or a memo to inform a team. I will undoubtedly apply these practical skills in the business especially in the field of Graphic design (Design industry).

4. COURSE RECOMMENDATIONS-

I believe that more role-playing exercises or activities would enhance the excellent course. We can feel more comfortable using professional English in everyday circumstances by practicing real-world college scenarios, such as speaking with instructors, working in groups, or managing student services. It would increase the practicality and interactivity of learning.
