He later say that in Sufi Tradition they compare the feeling of transmission to "pleasant form of drowning, all-consuming, all-immersing." Ratliff is suspicious however, saying that he "doesn't think there is a specific sound of religious ecstasy in music."(Ratliff 54) I disagree with him because when I listen to music and I experience transmission, or "getting lost" in the music, it's quite a pleasant experience to me.
