Chris who was a running back for the football team is a suspect because he has had charges for assault. Chris ended up going to jail for 100 days for going against his probation. A sheriff says “we know for a fact Tom ran away to colorado and the sheriff denies accusation. There was another rumor that Jeff (Michael’s  dad) was having  a romantic relationship with Tom and Michael killed Tom. Jeff ended up committing suicide and people were believing that his death was linked to Tom’s case. Tom’s mom says she has no clue what happened to Tom’s body. She doesn’t understand why people are blaming her. He is at OSU and didn’t want to fail the test and be questioned. They think that maybe he could have planted Tom’s phone. Sheriff Lewis resigned. He says the other sheriffs and investigators didn’t have his back and didn’t think he should work there anyway. He is always thinking the exact opposite of what everyone else thinks and he clearly disagreed to take the polygraph test because he said that they don’t tell the truth and they don’t work. This seems odd because if he didn’t have anything to do with Tom’s disappearance then he would have taken the test. And somehow he accidentally pulled the trigger and shot Tom in the back of the head. Cline thinks that this was all an accident. Then the boys called a parent (most likely the boy who killed Tom’s dad) and they decided to get into touch with sheriff Lewis and asked him to help them over up the death. Lewis agrees and tells them where to dumb the evidence and the body of Tom. This is all a Theory that Cline thinks most likely happened to Tom. 

Cline also thinks that Penny (Tom’s Mom) is holding back information of what happened to Tom.
