What is it?

Ramthon is a nonprofit student-led organization here at West Chester University. They partner up with the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and raise money for children with all kinds of illnesses. This money is raised in many different ways such as selling t-shirts, bake sales, cannings, and promoting through social media. The money raised is then donated to CHOP where they use it to help families with affording treatments, health care, research, and so much more. There is a "main event" held on November 4 from 1-7 where participants stand for 6 hours straight and participate in many activities such as dancing. You also hear from the miracle kids and their families of their stories.

These dance marathons take place in many different states all over the world in tons of schools, universities, and hospitals. Statistically stating, "CMN Hospitals raises funds for 170 children’s hospitals that support the health of 10 million kids each year across the U.S. and Canada".

Why is This Club Important?

This club is important because the money raised from these events is used by CHOP to help families and their children afford treatments, medical research, and funding in general. It also raises a lot of awareness for CHOP and the Miracle network.

I just recently joined RamTHON during my freshman year. I wanted to join RamTHON because I wanted kids to have the opportunity to just be kids. I wanted to support, advocate, and donate as much as possible to this organization because I didn't want kids or their families to have to worry about medical bills, treatments, and research. I want sick children to feel as "normal" as possible in these troubling times.

Joining clubs and organizations that support these causes.

Donor Drive

Donor Drive is a website/app that is used in RamTHON as a way to donate money straight to CHOP. Family, friends, strangers, and even you are able to use your page and or link to directly donate money. You are able to set a personal goal as well to encourage people to help you reach it. You can post your link on many social media platforms one of the biggest being Facebook. Some other social media that are good for fundraising are Instagram and Twitter.

Volunteer

Volunteering is a great way to get involved especially in RamTHON. When volunteering for RamTHON you can sign up for cannings at places like Bates Motel, and fundraising at Barnabys and Maday. Also, the club hosts smaller events on campus such as bake sales, hosting a table at the carnival, and selling t-shirts in which you can sign up to volunteer.

Tabling

RamTHON holds tablings biweekly to meet as a whole to prepare for these events. During these tablings, we make posters, play fun games, and discuss the importance of RamTHON and its impact on children's lives.
