I really enjoy seeing Paci's artwork as the details weave deep into each piece seeing new things each time you look, the way he weaves the plants into the nerves, bones and organs to make them part of the body is fascinating, his knowledge of the human anatomy and the way he puts it on paper is very impressive and is what i'm aiming to capture in work this project.

i have always been a massive fan of little nightmares so it was incredibly enjoyable to draw some of my own designs in their style and its a great push towards what i have in mind for my future ideas

alot better than my first try with clay this projected but that was expected, moving fowards i will utilise 3D and clay for multiple pieces throughout this project.

thankfully i've learnt for this that clay will sag alot over time if not supported from belowas the loops are now disfigured, i will remember this for my next clay piece.

we both first focused on creating the blade and the handle as both connect, the handle didnt require much attention, a little sanding, but the blade we both worked on sharpening it and getting it to that ideal width for a blade, after we did that i drilled a hole right through where the handle and the blade connect for a place for the hilt to go.

we both wittled down a smaller piece of wood until it would just about fit in the hole then sanded it down, we we're both happy with how this turnt out as it has a unique look and feel to it.

one thing i learnt was the wood can chip unpredictably alot of the time taking out chunks which you need, as you can see the blade it self is very rough and rather bent because its uneven.

i knew i couldnt do the exact same again so instead of building it up with clay i used random materials instead, i first found an empty cylinder which i filled each end with foam to create circular eye shape, i then paper mache then whole thing a few times.

this is where i had the most era, i wanted to orignally make a tail with alot of overlapping segments to give the nerve look to it, unfortunatley the mudrock was incredibly difficult to shape on its own as it wouldnt connect to anything, i then used some clay but it kept cracking the smaller the lines i made so i eventually just made a tail out of foam and wrapped it with mudrock which came alot better than i expected.

I really like how this one turnt out due to its unqiue texture and also its wire frame within the piece.

Starting with the actual forearm side i used scotch tape to stick some long card strips into a hexagon sort of shape

I then focused on the iris adding as much detail as possible to make that spot stand out in the piece, I think it came out well but i believe i could of done better with different materials but thats part of the learning process.

I'm very happy with how this turnt out considering its my second attempt in a long time at clay and aycrlic it turnt out better than i could of imagined and this has helped me be more confident with my 3D pieces going foward.

after wrapping the finger in this material and waiting a day for it to set, i sliced it open carefully to slip out my finger from the mold, i then placed the mold in a bit of plaster and waited for that to set to have a stand for my mold while its in use, i then could finally pour in some plaster to the actual mold and it set very quickly

it has given me some inspiration for my project going forward and also useful ideas such as producing many experiments to get the best out of my concepts and hopefully bring them to life like Tim Burton does.

i added two ribs after that just to get an idea of where the rest would go, after i began to mass produce alot of clay fingers all varying in size with the details such as nails and joints visible, this took me the longest.

added a few more ribs just to see how many i could fit around the mouth without it being to crowded, i lastly added the nipples for more accuracy

i first started with the same silver i was testing the day prior and i applied it to the ribs and teeth, i then let that dry and wrapped in masking tape so it would not be affected by the rest of the spray paint

while reapplying some skin tone paint i did accidently paint over some silver but this was an easy fix with some aycrlic paint

to get around this firmly stuck the hand back with some clay glue, without the fingers fixed just yet, waited until it dried then stuck the fingers back with the clay glue and reapplied some paint and it looked good as new

I then lastly painted on all the dark tones starting with the fingers adding a gray nail to each one, i find that darker colours are better for nails as they stand out alot more.
