As the no. of shell increases which means more electrons are present and the distance between the nucleus and outer electron increases.
Electronegativity: There is a decrease in electronegativity down the group since the distance between nucleus and the bonding electron increases and electrons are attracted less strongly by the nucleus.
Volatility; The volatility decreases and this is because down the group the no. of electron increases causing more temporary dipoles to be set therefore increasing the strength of LDF forces which means increased boiling and melting points and they become less volatile.
Color : The color gets darker going down the group starting with fluorine as yellow and with astatine as black.
Solubility; The solubility of the halogens in water decreases as they cannot overcome and form bonds with the strong hydrogen present in water since they are non polar and water is polar .However, in inorganic solvents due the presence of non polar molecules ,they can form bonds and are therefore soluble.

They all posses 7 electrons in their valence shells and the halogens have an unpleasant odor and maybe toxic.

TRENDS IN CHEMICAL PROPERTIES
When halogens react ,they gain an electron to form negative ions.
