I changed the arrangement of the bricks, staggering and unstaggering them. My first prototype had the bricks staggered perfectly. It survived the crash test all the way through from 1 inch (minimum) to 8 inches (maximum tested)

As I pulled further back more and more pieces started to break off until at 8 inches it almost completely fell apart.

When I started out, I added a bumper to absorb all of the shock.  Next, I added a lego piece on the top that is slightly slanted. Then I tried it out, the slanted piece broke off with the first try.  I then added a small 2x2 stud brick and tried again.  With the second try, the front wheels fell off on impact.  So I added a plate lego piece that runs along both axels of the wheels and that worked from 0 - 10 inches.  Below are 3 pictures - the first is my launcher, the second is the plate that made the axels not fall off on impact.  The third picture is the car itself.  What I learned from this project is the smaller the better which is unexpected.  Lastly, the name of car is "Li 'l Timmy".
