Kris Allen’s song "Live Like We’re Dying" helped me understand that life is too short for regrets.

Kris Allen’s song emphasizes that many people live with regrets in life. Maybe they didn’t say I love you enough or didn’t accomplish everything they wanted in life. This song makes me realize that even though I am young, life is short and can be taken away in an instant. He reminds us that “We only got 86,400 seconds in a day” to make sure we do not waste any of the time we have. He repeats throughout the song that we “never know a good thing thing till it’s gone” which reminds me to value everything that I have in the present because they may not always be there in the future. I think it is important for people to remember we do not live forever, and we should spend our energy on happiness and love rather than sadness and hate. This song embraces existentialism because it revolves around the idea that people are responsible for making the most out of their lives and they must choose to live in the moment. It is important to always look forward rather than dwelling on things from the past.

The Blind Side taught me that families are not just made of bloodlines and everyone has the potential for greatness.

The Blind Side tells the true story of a homeless African American boy named Michael Oher who is taken in by the Tuohy family and given a second chance in life. Although Michael starts off as a stranger to the Tuohy family, their love for him continually grows and they see him as their own son. They are from very contrasting backgrounds and are different races, but these barriers do not stop them from becoming a tight-knit family. This has taught me that love can conquer any prejudices. Although he may look like he does not fit in, the family accepts Michael for who he is. This movie also exemplifies that motivation and determination can lead to greatness. Sometimes all someone needs is to be given a chance or a purpose and it is enough for them to be successful. Michael works extremely hard to improve his grades and is devoted to football. With the help of Leigh Tuohy pushing him to reach for his goals, Michael eventually becomes a professional football player. I believe that everyone is talented in their own ways and given the opportunity and guidance, they have the ability to be successful in life.

The Fault in Our Stars has helped me understand true love and learn that life is not a wish-granting factory.

The Fault in Our Stars is a novel about the development of romance between two strangers, Hazel Lancaster and Augustus Waters. They are both suffering from different types of illness and meet for the first time in a support group. I am a romantic and I believe that true love does exist in the real world. In the movie Hazel and Gus become inseparable and their attachment to each other provides an example of what love is supposed to be like, even at a young age. When I am older I want to have a love like theirs, that cannot be broken despite the obstacles we face. The movie also shows that we do not always get what we want. There are a series of unfortunate events such as hazel’s constant illness, the search for the author being a disappointment, and Gus’s recurrence of cancer. However, accepting the world as it is with its unfairness and inconsistencies allows us to appreciate the good things we have in life. There are always going to be obstacles in life, but we must look past them and focus on the positive aspects of our lives.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants: A story of true friendship

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants has shown me that it is important to have friends to lean on when life gets hard. There are always going to be ups and downs in life and having a shoulder to lean on during your low points can help you move on. The movie is about four girls, Bridget, Tibby, Carmen, and Lena who all follow very separate paths in life after forming a very strong bond. They choose to rotate a pair of pants, no matter where they are in the world, in order for them to stay connected. People do not always realize that friendships are effort. They had to remember to keep each other updated, so that life did not pull them apart. Also, it is important to note that all four girls are extremely different. Carmen likes cooking, Tibby makes films, Bridget plays soccer, and Lena is a popular artist. I believe that when friends have different interests, it only make their bonds stronger. The lifelong friendship that these four girls have made is something that I want to have in my life with people I meet in college, or even my friends that I have grown up with in high school.
