If you get further away from the pitch parameter, the playback speed and the pitch will go down. Getting closer, raises pitch + playback speed.

If you go very far away, it will reverse playback and in between those, there is obviously a point where you can freeze the audio. 

The volume parameter changes the volume and the grain size. Lower volume = smaller grains leading to a slight flanging effect.

If volume is high AND pitch is high the theremin will go into crazy mode and just randomise a bunch of parameters. 

Anyway, hope that's fun and somewhat intuitive to play with!

Here is a version of the same patch that works with the Theremin. Pitch on the Theremin controls the pitch of the sample and volume on the theremin controls the position in the soundfile.

Just so you know, I changed the upper and lower bounds of the pitch range in the theremin to get a bit more scope and to make use of the full midi range. Midi is not very subtle so there are probably a lot of ways in which this could be fine-tuned and smoothened. Just make sure to set that back if you don't want to use this as a midi controller.

There is obviously a lot more scope to fine-tune this and extend those possibilities.
