Where do they get their food? How do they cook their food? Where do they sleep? Do they come up to breathe, like whales and seals? Or do they breathe underwater like fish? Draw your answers. Does thinking about these questions make you believe in mermaids more or less? </title>

<title>1. How do polar animals survive the cold? 2. What did this lesson make you curious about? What other questions do you have about polar animals? Bonus Activity: Some penguins stand in the snow for months while waiting for their eggs to hatch. To keep the eggs warm, penguins hold them on their feet—even when walking around! Give it a try! Use a roll of toilet paper as your penguin egg. Find something to hold on to, like a wall or a couch. Tip your feet so you’re standing on your heels, like a penguin. Put the “egg” on your feet. Now waddle like a penguin! How far can you go before dropping the “egg”? Challenge your friends to beat your record. </title>

Bonus Activity: The first cartoons told stories using only pictures. They had no words at all. Think of a story that you can tell using only pictures. It can be a story you’ve heard—like &quot;Cinderella&quot; or &quot; The Three Little Pigs.&quot; Or it can be your own story. What pictures could you use to tell the story? Draw your pictures in a cartoon strip, where each picture is in a box. Show it to a friend. Can they tell your story from the pictures you drew? </title>

Bonus Activity: The Earth is round, like a basketball. So is the Moon. Look around your home for things that are round or rounded—like oranges or eggs or marbles. What other shapes do you see around you? Squares? Triangles? Draw three things that are different shapes. How many round things can you find? How many square things? How many triangle things? Are some things made by putting together different shapes? What is the most common shape? </title>

<title>1. What do garbage trucks do with garbage?2. What did this lesson make you curious about? What other questions do you have?Bonus Activity: The best way to deal with garbage is to throw less stuff away! Think about things that you use just once and then throw in the trash. Maybe you thought of plastic spoons, plastic water bottles, or plastic bags from the store. What else can you think of? How could you replace these throw-away items with things you can reuse instead? Make a list or draw a picture of the throw-away things. Be sure to include your ideas of what you could use to replace them!</title>

What other questions do you have about the ocean?Bonus Activity: To explore the bottom of the ocean, scientists needed a special submarine that the water couldn’t crush. Think of a place you’d like to explore. Maybe you want to go inside a volcano. Or visit the top of a mountain. Or tour the surface of the Moon. What equipment would you need to get to your chosen spot? What would you need to stay safe while you’re there? Describe or draw a picture of your ideas.</title>

What other questions do you have about emojis?Bonus Activity: Emojis had to be invented, but you can find faces in objects all around you! Cars are a good example. See how many emotions you can find in car “faces” around your neighborhood!</title>

Chocolate bars make a mess when they melt. Taffy sticks to your teeth. Life Savers stick together. Think like an inventor. What could you do to improve your favorite candy? Could you give it a better package or a new flavor? Could you make it less messy by putting it on a stick like a lollipop? Write or draw what your new candy would look like. What other questions do you have about bugs?Bonus Activity: A million different kinds of crawling, many-legged “bugs” live on Earth. Next time you see a “bug” crawling around, take a closer look.
