This is the second year of my Master's program at Boise State and I am loving it. I do not have a traditional teaching background as I am a religious educator for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I currently teach high school students at Timberline High School and Boise High School. I have been married to my wife Ali for 8 years now and we have 3 boys. We love hiking, biking and all outdoor activities. I am looking forward to learning and growing in this course and to become a better student and teacher.

My name is Shelley Nash. I'm excited for this class. I'm a busy mother of 7 children from ages 17-5. My youngest just started kindergarten today and my oldest is in college as a high school senior. We moved from Idaho Falls to Blackfoot over the weekend and it's been a crazy weekend! Lots left to do! 
I teach for an virtual school through Oneida School District and work in Special Education. We do our direct instruction online using zoom in a synchronous format, and I'm here to help our entire school improve on our online teaching abilities. I got "chosen" because I ran a private online school for a year and I've had my children in online charter schools off and on for years as a homeschooling mom. I love online education and the power of it. I'm really excited to learn best practices and things we can do to make technology a positive rather than the negative it seems to be right now.
I'm only completing a certificate for now so I have one class down and this one and then spring semester to go! If I had the money, I'd keep right on going for the MET :)
As for a professor pet peeve I just hate unclear directions, but I haven't run into that at BSU :)

The district is pushing for Blended Learning, hence, I am super excited for this course. I am just starting the Ed.S program at Boise State. One professor pet peeve is when we have to listen to a bunch of audio files. 
My wonderful wife surprised me with the best birthday gift this year. She's pregnant with our first child! I'm looking forward to being a father and to continue caring for my two pups Lucy and Candy. I have lived all my life in Idaho and couldn't imagine living, working or playing anywhere else. You may be surprised to know that I use my students to help run my computer. As a classroom job, I have my students drive, click and drag things around for me. Since I teach at the front of my room, my computer is stuck way back and I don't have a Smart Board. In this course I really hope to learn some strategies I can use with my first grade students to help them learn in digital spaces. I was never used to learning online but since I have started working on my masters and I've been taking more online courses, I have discovered that I really enjoy it. The most difficult part is learning the new tech tools or platforms the classes take place on. I found myself needing to be very organized to stay on top of deadlines. I'm so excited for this course because it is one of the last courses I have to take for my program! My success strategy for online courses is to create an interactive notebook for my notes and resources. I'm totally obsessed with post-it notes and washi tape! I just despise when instructors are vague on project details. Mostly because I am susceptible to interpreting things wrong and leading myself astray. I grew up in Corona, Ca (Riverside County), but moved to Boise at the age of 19. I was a high school dropout breaking my back doing house framing for a living and wanted a fresh start. I got my GED, then joined the Army National Guard at the age of 23 to pay for college and graduated with my Bachelors last year getting endorsements in history and sociology. I served for 8 years in the Idaho Guard and am grateful for my experience in the Army. My wife is an active duty Staff Sergeant in the guard currently and supports me and our 3 young children. We decided I should use up the rest of my education benefits and work on my masters while the kids are young instead of paying most of my paycheck towards daycare. I am currently in the MET program with a certificate in online teaching. It would be ideal if I could find an online teaching position, so this class will be extremely important in giving me the skills to be able to do so. I have 4 beautiful daughters, 3 cats (2 females and 1 male), and my significant other and I just celebrated our 5 year anniversary. I've played competitive sports all the way up to college. I received my bachelors degree in K-12 Physical Education from BSU in 2013 but I have yet to use it professionally. I was hired to be a Computer Applications teacher and in 2017 took on Web Design. I self taught myself and fell in love with all things tech, who knew I was a closet nerd, haha! I decided to get my M.E.T to further my professional experience(s). I was part of the Vanguard team at my school that helped put together the implementation/integration of 1:1 devices in 2018. This year our school system was ransom hacked so I have been trying to teach technology without the use of technology. I know HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, and JavaScript languages. As well as, many interactive online learning platforms, Office 365 suite, multiple LMS's, multi-user collaboration platforms such as Google Classroom and OneNote, plus more. I am working towards  a certification in online teaching, technology integration, and games and simulations. I will graduate with my MET and two certifications. After graduation I will take one class to receive my third certification.
