Positive: Allows a wealth of knowledge at a student’s fingertips.

Negative: Can foster apathy using critical thinking skills.

Negative: Students are too reliant on technology (writing, etc.)

Negative: students believe the first thing they read and they think “Google” is a source

Positive: Students have access to a world of information. Learning can go beyond the textbooks. They can research and explore topics that interest them or extend the lesson. We have used Google classroom daily since 2020 and have found ways to digitize everything including student leadership notebooks. Using the technology saves the school tons of money on paper and printing.

Negative: Students getting onto unhealthy platforms. They find ways around all means to block these sites. Academically, student handwriting has declined significantly.

One positive aspect of technology is that teachers can bring their students to places that would otherwise be unavailable, such as virtual labs, inaccessible literature, and to the front lines of wars.

The obvious downside of technology in the classroom is it often serves as competition for the students’ attention.
