Early of the semester, I will be stress when the day is nearly Thursday. UHAK became a little burden to me to be honest. I need to learn things I do not tend to learn. When we assigned to sell things in project 3, that make me more afraid, nervous and worried. I questioned myself that what will happen if we did not achieve lecturer target. What if people will not buy our things. Project 2 give some pleasing. Al least I can create an idea on innovation, draw our design and show to our lecturer. I tell myself that job is what I will busy on the next step of my life. 

Project 1 need us the whole team to do interview, to study how entrepreneur became how they are now. We did the interview on Madam Chuan Yah Wei, a pharmacist of Orange Pharmacy in Taman Universiti. Through the interview I observe that being an entrepreneur is hard, but then I realise that no work is easy. Every sector has their own challenges and cannot to be compare. Never give up is the most valuable mindset need to be put in me. Whatever challenges come toward us, go through it carefully. We might feel tired, we might felt lost, we may want to give up. But at the end, when we achieved what we want, all the effort we make back then will make us smile. That what I believe and that not only applicable to the journey of an entrepreneur, that same motivation I will use on my study to make my dream comes true. 

We discuss on selling fruits for our Project 3. Actually, I felt excited a little because of this project because I never thought on selling food or fruits to be exact. I love fruits and I love to provide fresh food to others. Even this is not my idea, I love to do it since we hardly provide fruit in UTM. The preparation is quite easy until the first batch of delivery happen. We manage to cut the fruits on our own for the first batch. We obtain enough pack for every order with no short of. The first problem happened when we promise to start delivery on 4 p.m. but we not fully arrange the fruits at 3:50 p.m. There are some students who will having their test on 5 p.m. and there is student who ask us to deliver to them before some particular time. That is our first encounter that need to be improvise for our next batch. Calling student that I am not friend with make me nervous. Remembering their name and talk to them make me awkward. But all this experience teaches me something. On the future, we will not only collaborate or communicate with people that we only know. We always happen to meet new people and that is the soft skill I need to strengthened start now. 

After we done on first batch of delivery, we obtain profit nearly double the modal and that excite me the most. The effort on cutting the fruits to slices, delivery it around the UTM did paid us off. But the thinks are, it took a lot of time and preparation. We manage it because some of us didn’t have class on Thursday evening and some of us coincidently got class cancelled. We manage it because all of us are free that day. For the second batch, not all of us are free and need to full fill many orders. So, we discuss on buying ready slice fruits at the outside and sell it. Profits did not much as before, but we still get it. 

This business project gave me some excitement at last. We really obtain some profit and use it on our additional daily needs. The negative thought before did changed at the end. This project actually provides some useful skill for me. This project did not even waste my time. Even I do tired after delivered the fruits, at the end I believed it is worth it. The worries if the target did not achieve gone, we pass the target on the second batch, but we did not stop. We proceed the business until the forth batch. The zero knowledge about business bother me at once, but not after I learnt in from my teammates and Dr Sabrinah. After I done did project, I really have some intention on wanting to start business, but I believe now is not the prefect time. I want to learn more about business. The important now is my current study, I want to study hard on what have be responsible to me. 

After all, UHAK 1032 did not inconvenient as I thought before. 

 

It would be underrated if I were to say “I’ve gained a lot of knowledge from UHAK1032 Introduction to Entrepreneurship” as I’ve attained more than just knowledge. Through this class I obtained invaluable lessons, confidence and life-long skill set to be used for my future. From the very beginning of the semester we were aware of Project 3 – online business project. I was nervous on the day this project was announced. Although I have the experience from working part-time, the idea of having to manage an entrepreneurial project from scratch put me into a jitter. As I am a competitive person, it came naturally for me to give my all in everything I work into. Same goes to this project, I wanted the experience to be worth my time, effort and money. Which then lead to my first challenge, I had learned the importance of believing in others especially my team members. I was not initially convinced about their commitment, but I was proven wrong when they were just as dedicated and passionate, they would spend just as much time and effort to ace the project. This was the time I learned that sometimes it is okay to take the back seat and having a like-minded team in a company. The business went smoothly most of the time because we manage to have the same clear mission and vision.

 

Next challenge we had as team was when the sales were slow during the first week of the project. Somehow, we could not boost our sales and little attention were given to us. We couldn’t sit back, so we decided to open offline booth at Arked around UTM. The response was amazing, and sales increase drastically. This is when I realised the importance of putting your business out there for people to recognise even though it might just be the community you are in. To build customer relationship is essence for a start up project like us. Since, it was the first time selling like this for most of us, I must say, I am proud of the team for overcoming their “shyness” and went for it. Despites the obstacles, we managed to achieve our target sales of RM1,000 and that deserve a pat on the back!

 

I’ve always looked forward coming to UHAK1032 class every Sunday morning. I enjoy learning something other than engineering subject, it freshens my mind and broaden my thoughts. Dr Sabrinah has done a good job in keeping my interest at peak. Her vast knowledge on business world is fascinating and aspiring. There was never a dull moment in the class and I’ve also met a number of people with different views from me. I was also able to make new friends and socialise with people outside my Aeronautics classmates. In short, the class has been very exciting and I would forever cherish the time with them.

           In Project 1,we are assigned to interview any entrepreneur of our choice.We interviewed Mr Chia Kim Sin,the founder and currently director of Kerjuruteraan Boma Sdn. Bhd.From the interview session,we asked him questions that are related to entrepreneurship.
 Mr Chia advised us to be more patient in business especially if the company is still new.Next,he teaches us about having passion in something does pay.In his case,he really love electronjcs and machine and willing to learn as an apprentice during his younger years before succeed.Finally, Mr Chia Kim Sin taught us to not rush when making money.In order to be make any business successful,we need to understand our customers need and gain their trust first.

            In Project 2,we are assigned to create a prototype that solve problem faced by society.In this project,we are lucky to be selected to join (Sustainable Entrepreneurial Mindset Showcase 2.0 (SEMS 2.0) on 3 December 2019.This is an opportunity for us to present our idea to be evaluated by the judges.In this task, we learned how to understand future customer need and create something to solve their problem.After weeks of brainstorming session,we managed to make ErgoVest which is a vest to maintain good body posture for students and staff.

          In Project 3,I learned how to use social platform such as Facebook to promote my business with my team.This project taught me how to manage my time to balance between academic study and online business,For me,this is a very important skill since we need to be able to multitask and train how to work under pressure.Initially,I have no experience in business.After learning through Dr Sabrinah’s guidance,I am able to generate and handle my own business.

            After completing this subject UHAK 1032, I was able to benefit from a variety of new things from the class especially about business. Before entering this class, I do not have any experience in involving business. This class taught me how to become a businessman. This subject also taught us how to manage time. It is because we have to manage our time properly to do business and other assignments from other subjects. At first, it is very difficult for us to manage our time properly especially when you are third year student because we have a lot of projects need to be submit. But we still manage to complete all the tasks on time. Working under pressure always seemed to take the best out of me, knowing how much needs to be completed in a certain amount of time.

            For our project 3 which is online business, it was a good experience for me because it was the first time I do a business althought we did not manage to achieved our target which is to get 100 orders. From this project, we learn that it is important to have a very good teamwork between group members. For a business to survive, we need to have a good leader to lead the group members and good communication between members. For our group, we divided tasks for each members so that everyone has works to do. For example, my tasks is to deliver the food order by the customer. We also learn how to keep track our business profits and expenses. It is important for a businessman to keep track the flow of the money from their business so that they can put target for their business.

            As a conclusion, this subject taught us so many knowledge about business and how to generate ideas to start something. We had some good and bad experiences while doing this project. But with this experience, it will helps us to become better in future.

    A lot of knowledge I have earned from the third project of this subject which was running a business in a month period of time. At first, it takes about a week for us to identify and confirms on what product that we capable to sell it includes cheesy wedges, sushi roll, mini pizza and the product we chose is Kebab. This happens because, we are considering about our competitors product that sold in the same area which may affects our sales in the future. After have decided on what we will be selling, the first challenge that we faced is to find suppliers that have our raw materials and have the lowest selling price. For example, the Pita bread and the Ramly minced beef both of this product are the most crucial, because the pita bread that suits our budget only available in Tampoi and the Ramly minced beef always facing stock shortage problem. Thus, we need to go to many supermarkets in order to find those products and also need to face higher prices. After that, this business also require our commitment and time because total time to complete sets of Kebab can takes up to 4 hours. Lastly, the hardest challenge for us are not able to have enough order for the day to dispatch out our already prepared kebab for the day. Thus, all of us need to spend extra time in order to sell all of the Kebab by trying to find buyers through the social media and door to door approach.

Throughout this semester in UHAK 1032, I have learned a lot regarding the core activities of a business with the help of the business model canvas. It has served as a guide for me by clearly defining the important elements of a business such as our target audience, customer relationship, revenue streams and so on. Thanks to Dr. Sabrinah, I was able to grasp a good understanding on every single element so that our online business was able to make good progress in sales. 

I have also learned about NABC (Needs, Approach, Benefit, Competition) comprehensively. By understanding customers’ needs, I have obtained a deeper understanding of the products or services that have the potential to become an opportunity for a business startup. After that, we had to develop an approach that is efficient and effective in providing a solution for the needs of our customers. Through the BMC competition, I have had the chance to apply these 4 elements into the presentation of our shoe defect detection system project. By elaborating on the social impact and benefits of our system and providing a detailed analysis on our competition, we were able to convey our business idea to our judges with clarity. 

From the experience of carrying out this online business project, I had learned about the power of interpersonal and communication skills. When dealing with customers, it was imperative to always be patient and courteous, to show gratitude for their support. While there were some customers who made it easy to smile and thank them, some were not so patient. However, as time passes, I learnt to develop a “thick-skin”, to be able to endure or accept their feedback, whether good or bad. The skill of persuasion was also highlighted, and I had to learn how to write sentences that could persuade people to buy our products during the copyrighting process. Convincing people to buy our products is the core activity of marketing, hence a lot of time was spent thinking of ways to attract people to make their first purchase. Communicating with customers and receiving their feedback also helped me to polish my people skills.

Last but not least, the importance of working in a team. While there were instances of tension among team members, the building up of frustration, and the onslaught of misunderstandings, we decided to overlook all of that and focus on keeping the peace and working hard towards our goal. We were all born with different feathers, and there were bound to be differences in thinking and mindset, but I realized that what was more important is how we see the good in people instead of focusing on their negative side. Everyone has their own talent, and in a team-working situation, we must try to leverage their skills and allow them to utilize their talent in the best possible way. Thus, satisfaction is gained when we achieve our goal together as a team. 

In many ways, I have gained an invaluable experience while working on this project, as it has taught me a lot about the essential values that an entrepreneur should have, such as time management, discipline and great persuasion skills. 

As I have mentioned before, Dr. Sabrina Binti Adam was my lecturer for this subject. She had taught me many things that I think are very crucial for this modern era. Entrepreneur nowadays had become a choice for young people. In conjunction with this, I think this is the right time I took this subject. The BMC, NABC and also business setup was taught by Dr. Sabrina. It was a memorable moment to be under her supervision. 

Hence, for the third project, that is online business, I learn on how to advertise business by online. My group and I have set up a business that sells food. It is quite hard to sell food as we have to know the market demand. We start the business from zero until we had gain certain profit. This project is just not about to gain profit, but also train us to be more motivated and energetic towards what we are doing. As a conclusion, the online business had open a wider chance and opportunity to me to get involve in the entrepreneurial field.

 

Some of the knowledge that have been thought by my lecturer, Dr Sabrina are NABC, and BMC. This 2 new knowledge have to be build up and study to form a rigid and strong base of business as we know what are the need and requirement from the customers. N in NABC stand for need, where we need to know what is the most important user and market need. Next, A stand for approach which means what is our unique approach. Then, B in NABC means for benefit whereby what are the specific user advantages. Competition is the meaning behind the C in the acronym of NABC and need to know how does these advantages differ from the competition. While in BMC, it is the acronym for Business Model Canvas. This model has 9 sections. The first one is key partners. The second one is key activities. Followed by value proposition. Next is customer relationship. Then customer segment. While the rest of the sections are key resource, distribution channel, cost structure and the last one revenue stream.

 

Project 3 have a big impact on me. Having to register our company legally under Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia, SSM gave such a different responsibility and liability. Every sales and expenses made must be updated in the Go-ecommerce. Which means all of our activities are being monitored by the government. Starting new business with my team have thought me that business is not all about counting money. Experiencing direct selling for the first time making me nervous. Along the way, it makes me realise on how beautiful this process is.

Based on this project, I managed to get the ideas on how to do business because before this, I did not have any experience in business. When we were asked to do this project 3 which is the online business, I was shook and a bit afraid. However, it was controllable as all of my group members are really committed. I would greatly thanks Muhammad Rusyaidi, Muhammad Iqbal, Saiful Lizam and Muhammad Irsyad as they always shows their commitments in this project. Hence, it leads to the feel of satisfaction as the project was a success. 

At certain times, I thought of about quitting in doing this business but at a glance, I thought it would be a waste. It is because I think I would be able to explore more about business when I do the business. I am really grateful as I was given the chance to do this business because I am sure that someday, I would benefit the knowledge about business.

It is very lucky for me as this experience and knowledge that I had learned from this course has very changes my perspectives and fears to start my own business. I learned that a good business needs a very prepared plan to ensure its successfulness. To conclude, I hope this course will continuously offered to student in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia to spread more knowledge about entrepreneurship to the public.

Furthermore, Dr Sabrinah had thought us many valuable things and relevant information regarding entrepreneurship. From project 1, we reluctant to know that there are many inspiring enterpreneurs outside there. They teach us to trust yourself and never look back to your their dreams. While in project 2, we discover ourselves that we all had inventor sides. Thus, making innovative products not an easy task while we have to make our products acceptable in the markets. Dr Sabrinah gives so many advices to improve our products such as improving our BMC and NABC. 

Moreover, Online business project gives many experience for us to learn from it. We start from scratch and have zero knowledge on starting a business. My teammates and I were gather together to brainstorm ideas for our online business project and we choose to sell egg roll for our business. Throughout our journey in selling our products, it has a rough trail. At first, we promote our first products that is egg roll and it has a massive attention among students. But when we start to sell on respected location such as stall and bus stop area, our egg roll facing difficulties to earn any profit because of location and trust of customers. Therefore, it not distrust our hope as we came back with a better plan. We try to sell egg roll with gimbap on weekend by whatsapp medium selling method. In results, the sales are very tremendous. Besides, we also sell kek batik and cornflake salted egg as our side income to increase our profit. From this project, we achieve our target sales and challenge ourselves to take a risk. We learn ourselves as an entrepreneur to rise from our fall and willing to take as many opportunities in front of you. 

 

           From this business, I have the opportunity to develop my entrepreneurship skills and communication skills. I gain knowledge on how to start my business in the future and how to persuade people to buy our products. It needs a good and solid plan to build up a good business and attract other customers to buy our products. I feel grateful because all my family members and friends supports my business. Moreover, I have the chance to meet other people who loves to eat cheese in this university. I also develop a new chain of friends where I know them through this business.

 

This project also boosts up my enthusiasm to own my future company. This is the first step to develop my company. I study the plan structure on how to open up a company and then makes it into huge company just by a small start-up money. We just need a particular and practical plan to execute a nice company. Therefore, I really thankful to this course as they are many things that we can learn from this course. 

What I learned from the given project is that teamwork is one of the key parts when working in a group. I realised that I cannot do multiple task by myself. For example, our group is divided into 5 station during the making of the product. Besides that, tolerance is one of the main aspects that I learned. There are some of us that have classes when we need to register our business at S01 so I volunteered to do the task as I do not have any class at that time. Next, time management is also important as we need to learn how to divide our time between studying and also selling our products. That is why we decide to do the sell on the days where majority of us do not have class until 6 p.m. This is because to buy the raw materials for our product cost us a lot of times as the places are located far from UTM. After that, I also learnt that communication skills when dealing with customers. One of the ways that we sell our products is going from door to door. Lastly, I learnt how to keep tracked the flow out of money. This is because money is one of the important parts in any business. Any transactions involving money need to be recorded as it will be easy to track where it comes and go.

What did I learn from subject UHAK 1032? Basically UHAK 1032 stand for Introduction to Entrepreneurship. Through this subject I learnt a lot about entrepreneurship. First of all, I leant how to generate ideas to create a successful and long-term businesses.  I also learnt that customer pain is really important in the basis of a business. So, then I should know how to tackle customer pain in order to come with a successful business. Lastly, I also learned about business model which is consist of the needs in a business such as pricing analysis and revenue model.

Dr. Sabrinah also thought me a lot throughout this entire semester. Not just regarding UHAK 1032 subject, but also in other matter. One of them is, she always asks us to wear formal attire during presentation. From that, I learned how to dress properly as a student an as a future entrepreneur. She also thought us how to do a good presentation. 

From this project, I have the chance to acknowledge on how to do a business. I already know how to handle a small business from getting stock, preparing the order, taking orders, delivering orders and other. 

To be honest, I have never done any business before. Basically, I start with a zero knowledge. But then, with the help of my group member, we together plan the steps on how to do this business. So, I feel really grateful for being given this chance. I’m also planning in doing my own business in future with the knowledge that I got from this project.

I had gain many knowledge during doing project 1 which is interview an entrepreneur. He has thaught us on how to start our business, the challenges that he face and many more. I still remember what he said. “You need to take risk and try new thing. Loss at the beginning is a process of business. There is no businessman can success with only one trial.” He also tell us that making friend with everyone will give a benefits.

For the BMC project, we had brainstorm and produced our best product which is automatic fish feeder. In this project, it is very challenging as we need to produce our own product that meet the market requirement. I had learned that in order to produce a new thing, is it can meet the customers need or not. Is it suitable to market the product in that place? So many thing need to be consider before come out to the solution. Teamwork is one of the important things in this subject. Nothing can be done without teamwork. All of the task given are group work. At the same time our bonding become closer. Before this, I never wear formal. Last time I wear formal is during university registration. But, in order to become a businessman I had learn that formal attire is important in order to give a good first impression when people looking us. Preparation is the key of success in doing any work. For example, my group has make a better preparation before having a presentation to our lecturer.

The last project that we had done is online business. Marketing is important in order to get the customer. We had sold spaghetti Bolognese for our business. Starting the business is quite difficult as we need to find the recipe and to gain trust in order we have a good relationship with our customer. As our product require sausage and brokoli, we will need to buy before we cook and cannot buy it in a bundle as we cannot bring to frigde to the hostel. This project also thought me that doing business is not easy. We had faced a situation where the customer cancel order last minutes. This will lose our profit.

By taking this subject, I’ve gained entrepreneurship skills from the subject which is a rare learning outcome for an engineering course. In Project 1, I’ve learnt the experiences and the characters of entrepreneur by interviewing them. In Project 2, I learned to develop a business concept using NABC which focusing on customer’s needs, approach, benefits and competition while drafting the business plan using BMC. We were also required to build a prototype to showcase our business concept. Presentation seemed like a common thing in this subject. I think the reason why we need to present for every project is to elevate our confidence level which is an important characteristic of an entrepreneur.

For this online business project, our group has decided to sell items (mostly snacks) that are imported from Thailand and we have given our business the name of Thai-abetes Enterprise. Through this project, I’ve finally realized that it is not quite easy as I’ve expected from starting and handling a business. The most challenging part of this online business is to gain a customer that is willing to buy from you. I have found out that the consumer would have a lot of consideration before spending their money especially we are targeting UTM students. Students are quite thrifty when it comes to spending their money and they would compare the prices from different sources before purchasing. 

Besides, I have learned that there are a lots of things that we have to consider when operating our business. We cannot simply do as we like because that might cause our business to lose money. We were receiving some complaints that our selling price is too high. But the thing is that we would have to consider the shipping fees to have the items delivered to the university. It is extremely hard to satisfy our customers’ need and making sure that we were at least earning some money at the same time.

In a nutshell, I have definitely learnt plenty of lessons and experiences by starting my own business. From the process of taking orders, buying the stocks, shipping to university, to deliver the order and promoting our business, I have the chance to participate in every part of it. It was not easy, but I have a lot of fun doing these as a brand new experience. I think that all my contribution and sacrifice for every project in this course is rewarding and worth it. It might be hard at first, but in the end I still believe that we would get the reward if we persist. In the future, I probably would have the plan of starting my own business someday.

       Dr Sabrinah taught us a lot of knowledge about entrepreneurship including how to start a new business. She guide us by giving us direction and advices on what we should do to maintain our business. She also encourage us to invent more new product to penetrate latest business in our country or globally. Dr Sabrinah also gave a good comment on our team and bringing a good vibes to us. It was really an enjoying process to learn while doing business.

         I have come to understand how businesses have evolved their marketing strategies over the years by implementing various concepts in order to achieve our goals. I have also come to appreciate the importance of team work. In doing this it has created a sense of team spirit among myself and my group members. It will help me in my profession by being a great team player.

            I learned about the various pricing strategies that need to be utilized in order to gain a leading advantage over competitors. The various strategies that have been utilized are floor pricing, penetration pricing, premium pricing, equal pricing, bundle pricing among others. Depending the kind of feedback or result in which the team is seeking; we chose the pricing that best suits our product. I also learned that there are various factors such as competition, ethics and even the economy that may affect the pricing of a product.

     I learned the importance of advertisement and advertising products. I learned about how to plan an advertisement products, the steps to take and also how to ensure that it is effective in impacting the targeted audience. I learned about sales promotion and also public relations. Sales promotion are short- term techniques that companies might use to create an incentive scheme for customers in order to get them to purchase their products. I understand that gaining public acceptance is a vital role for public relations and they are given the task of ensuring that people know about the company and the product or services it provides.

            Dr. Sabrinah who are the lecturer for our class explained in details on few ways to generate ideas to come up with an entrepreneur idea which could be done personally or in groups. I learnt that by generating ideas in a group will boost up the ideas since every one has different view of perspective. Also, another thing I’ve learnt is that not every idea thrown can be useful, but we could make use of these ideas as a tool to improve another idea. Nevertheless, an idea can be opportunity in business when it meets these criteria which are: It solve problems, create value and robust profit margin. Last but not least, the lecturer taught us on how to analyse our competitors and create a value in our business.

            From the third project which is the online business, had me and the team to get our hands dirty by getting ourselves involved in doing business. From this project, there are mainly three things that I learnt which is first, customers are more likely to get instant product compare to pre-order. I also learnt that as an entrepreneur, me must know how to talk and capture customers attention by focusing on their pain point and suggesting solutions to get them interested in our products. Lastly, to venture in entrepreneur as a team for the beginning and during the university life which is surely hard to get our 100% commitment is a good approach. This is because the team can backup on the task if we are not available at any moment to always get the business running smoothly.

 

            What did Dr Sabrinah taught me throughout the semester? She taught me of how to start a own business? What should I have? What should I prepare? I cannot say that I absorb 100% given by her. But at least I know what I should do if I come out with a mind of initiate a business. She also shares to us tips of becoming a successful entrepreneur. For me myself, I think that becoming an entrepreneur is already difficult, but to success need more and more of aspect. From interviewing my group entrepreneur, I have understand that how should one go through to achieve a successful business. Moral of the interview, spirit of never give up is what I think I need the most now and in the future. What I remember Dr had told us, entrepreneur should always prioritize business, not profit. Although profit is also an important factor, but to success in a business, sales is more important than profit itself. So from that moment, I realized that giving discount to the customer is not a loss, is a way to win customer heart and another chance to have deal again.

            What did I learn from the project 3? I did not think that business itself teaches me lot of things, but doing it makes me learn new things. Communication with my group mates makes me think that how important to communicate as it makes everything smoother. As there will be argument, but works will improve it quality and we will also be closer. Besides, I also think that I learnt the most how to approach the people around me and purchase what I sold. Although they keep on mentioning how expensive my product is, but I think that it is an achievement for me as I finally get to sold it. Last but not least is to know more people, as our customer is all around in UTM. It is great to know new person in my life.

 The three components are creative thinking skills, knowledge and motivation. These three components are very important as they can provide a strong fundamental for the entrepreneur. The importance of having creative thinking skills enables the person to identify problems and use them to his or her advantage to gain profits by giving solutions to the problem. Moreover, the existence of creative thinking skills must unite with one of the important components, knowledge. An adequate amount of knowledge can prolong the entrepreneurs’ business which enables them to provide more innovative products and service for their customers. In addition to that, motivation is the final component, which is also important. Without motivation, an entrepreneur may fail at the instance they started their business. Along with the conduction of entrepreneurship, activity comes with a lot of hardships and challenges. This hardships and challenges are hard to deal with and requires a lot of courage and motivation to keep ongoing. That is why being an entrepreneur could be quite challenging.

Furthermore, during the class, I was taught about NABC approach which is an acronym that stands for Need, Approach, Benefit and Competition. These four major keys are the same as the basic needs to start up a business. The first letter N, which means need, the most important factor in the method. An idea without a practical need for it remains just what it is; a good idea and nothing more. A means the approach is usually a point of departure for most activities. Next comes B that stands for the benefit, for the innovative elements of an idea, in other words, that which constitutes its uniqueness. For the letter C, it means competition, a study of the competition existing in the area concerned.

From what I have learnt in the project 3 that my teammates and I have done, we had to run our business on our accords. It was hard at first because we had any clue what we were going to sell. We did a lot of brainstorming and in the end, we end up selling fruits which we thought was easy at first. On the first step of the project, we had to set up our company which we randomly name it, UHAK FRUITY AND JUICY SDN. BHD. Moving on, it was hard and on our first day of selling we received a lot of orders and in the end, we had a tiring day due to many delivering session. It was very tiring but fun, I also had gained a lot of experience from doing this project. I learnt to be patient when facing my customers when they had a lot of requests they wanted us to fulfil. We faced a few problems before, during and after we sold our products. One of them was the shortage of fruits due to my mistakes, so we had to improvise. From what I have learnt here is, we must always have back up plans and be prepared to face any consequences. Throughout the selling period which was 5 weeks, my friend and I had learnt a lot and gain a lot at the same time. Our profits were not that much, but what satisfied us that we could bring satisfaction to our customer with our product. Most of our customer leave positive reviews on our Facebook page.

In a nutshell, this course I had enrolled in was a roller coaster ride. It was an emotional rack sometimes, relaxing at another time and sometimes hard to deal with. Even though it was like that, I enjoyed every last minute of it. I had gained a lot of experience in the world of entrepreneurship and was hoping to gain more, but sadly it was only for a short time. I hope I can enrol myself in other courses like this sometime in the future. 

 
Entrepreneurship becomes one of the best choice for graduates student to make a career even they study on different field. From this subject we already on the first step to manage a company on the future. I hope that i will be a great entrepreneur in advance. Lastly, we need to thank again to Dr. Sabrina for sharing your knowledge with us on the class.

From Madam Sabrinah, I got so much knowledge not only about entrepreneurs but also about how to act as 'professional' when we must face some activity or situation. From the simple thing is I learn how to dress up properly and show myself as a professional entrepreneur that wants to show some new things to the people. Madam Sabrinah also helps me and my team in so many parts of our Project 2. Thanks to her, my team can do a proper presentation in front of the examiner on SEMS 2. Madam Sabrinah was a very wonderful lecturer. Madam comments part of our presentation and helps us to correct it. Madam Sabrinah also gives us so much advice that was very helpful for the team to increase our result on our project.

And, lastly, our activity on project 3. I have taken part in the promotion of our Kebab. Make a simple advertisement that will be share into several group chat among UTM students on UTM. Before taking this class and the project, I always found the same things as we have done on project 3. There are several students do some promotion on the group. There are so many rivals that do their activity on entrepreneurs too. We have to make an idea that will make people on UTM interested in our goods. And, after have a long discussion, we decide to sell our Kebab with so many variations. Thanks to that, so many people on UTM interested in our Kebab. We have a Kebab with very good taste and also we give a free delivery around UTM for the customers.

For the first project, our group went to interviews the entrepreneur in Taman University. He is a humble entrepreneur who always tries his best to contribute back himself to the community. Even though he failed for a few times before he managed to handle the shop in an organized way, he thinks positive and never gives up because he believes that success is not far from him. We interviewed him for about one hour and it is really good to have a chance to talk to a successful entrepreneur as he taught us many things. I learnt from his experience and hope that I will not repeated that kind of mistakes.

For the second project, I learnt how to captures audience attention and deliver my points by using simple and clear statements. From NABC (Need, Approach, Benefit and Competition), I learnt from our lecturer that we must identify the problems faced by targeted customers and find the solutions for them so that they will choose our business for a long term. It is undeniable that every business will face competition, so by using a NABC and BMC approach, we are able to tell our clients why our solution brings bigger value to them. The lecture given by our lecturer is really informative as it gives me a new looking to entrepreneur field. I begin to think about should I involved myself in this field after graduated.

For the third project which is the most challenging and memorable one, we are working in a group to launch an online business for about a month. We learnt to provide services that not only to gain profits for ourselves but also making others life easier especially our customer. During the planning of this business, we felt nervous when things are not running as planned. Sometimes, our group also faced some challenging situation and had some arguments. But I felt lucky that everyone is willing to discuss and give our opinion in order to make business success. We learnt to break a big task into smaller tasks when planning new delivery services. As a conclusion, this is a fantastic subject that let engineering students exposed ourselves to be an entrepreneur.

 

First and the foremost,I would like to thank dr Sabrinah Adam for giving us tremendous knowledge and amazing experience along this semester. Entrepreneurship enhances creativity and boosts innovation.This is one of the thing I learn in this course.Being creative and innovative is something inside ourselves that needs to be developed. It’s only through putting these abilities to work that you can improve them. It’s undeniable that entrepreneurship requires both skills, so they’ll get used and improved along your way.During the lesson, all the assesment was handled in group.Therefore,I learn to listen to others and value their ideas/points of view.Working with your team in order to get something done is essential. People naturally excel in different subjects. If you accept that fact and learn to use it to your advantage (the team’s advantage), the end product, service or whatever project you’re working on will turn out really well.Moreover,during completing the assesment given i learn to think about the problems society is facing today unconciously.When choosing what we wanted to develop, we had to find a need or a problem in society that we wanted to solve. It’s very likely that you don’t think about this every single day, and trying to do so can even be difficult at first. Once you get into the flow of it, though, you start to realise that there are tons of things that can be solved or improved. You also become aware of a lot of problems you hadn’t ever thought about.

 

On the other hand,Dr. Sabrinah has guiding us to start a business in the most appropriate ways. 3 projects have been given to us to complete. Among the projects there are Entreprenuer Magazine, NABC, BMC and Online Business. Entreprenuer Magazine taught us to meet the successful entrepreneur and ask them about their business experience. We have interviewed Dak Adam Enterprise for this project. Mr Adam is a successful entreprenuer. He sells various type of sambal. One of the famous sambal that he sell is Sambal Hitam Kayu Api. He shared his experience on the business and taught us the meaning of sacrifice in entreprenuership. NABC and BMC taught us about business projects related to mechanical engineering. Our group made Automated Parking Service as our mini project. We propose our faculty to build this parking service to ease the student to park their vehicles at faculty.Then,we were succeed to produce the working prototype on the competition day.

 

For the project 3, it can be said that it is the most annoying asssesment that we have because there soo much work to be done in the project like presentation,manage and sell the product,update in e-commerce and etc.However it has thought us to be a real entrepreneur.We even experiencing sweet and worse experience during running the project.This project also boosts up my enthusiasm to own my future company. This is the first step to develop my company. I study the plan structure on how to open up a company and then makes it into huge company just by a small start-up money.Finally, I learned that there is no success without a strive.

            What I have learned throughout this course was on how to be a patient person. In this subject there are three projects that we have to accomplish and each of the projects has its own difficulties. For project 1 which was entrepreneurial poster, we have to find one entrepreneur figure and then we need to interview him/her. For me, this is the most challenging task to be done since this project involved with an important figure. Throughout this project, we have contacted 5 important SME entrepreneurs in Johor, but only one figure that had agreed to be interviewed by us. But Alhamdulillah, we managed to accomplish it on time under the lead of Firdaus. Other than that, the thing that I have learned was on how to build up my confidence level especially when it comes to facing with audience. For project 2 which was NABC competition, we have been through numerous of serious discussions and brainstorming sessions in order to come out with a final robust idea. From the idea, we develop it into a prototype and then we present it to the class and judges. Finally, the thing that I have learned throughout this course was on how to become a manageable person. For project 3 which was online business simulation, this was the project that I was really enjoy doing it. Throughout this project, we all doing things together from cooking, marketing and distributing. Although it was a little bit tired running this business, but seeing satisfaction in customer’s face and their reactions, make us want in future to start and continue this business again.

            Last but not least, I would like to say thank you again to Dr. Sabrinah Adam, Firdaus, Imran Aiman, Aiman Sufi, Shylviza, Sheila and all my classmates for this enjoyable moment of this semester.

            Throughout 14 weeks lecture, I learnt about NABC approach and also BMC that will help to set up a proper business. NABC stands for Needs, Approach, Benefits and Competition. This will help us to identify what are the customer needs, how we want to communicate with customers, benefits that customer can get from our business and what is the uniqueness of our business. As for Business Model Canvas or also known as BMC will help us to what are things we need to do when we are operating the business. One of the assessments for this course required us to interview entrepreneur. 

During interview session, I learnt a lot of techniques and skills that entrepreneur needed. Entrepreneur that we had interviewed advise us to not give up in anything that we done and work hard so that we will happy with the outcomes.

 This course also teaches us on how to set up online business. It is not an easy task to set up a business. We need to register to SSM so that our business is legal. We also need to open our own Facebook Page to promote our online business. We learn how to operate our business by our own. We also are experiencing profits and also loss from our online business. It is quite difficult to operate the online business as we need to prepare and deliver our products to customers. Finally, I am grateful taking this course because I can learn and also experience new things that can help me in the future. I also want to thank Dr Sabrinah because she always passionate to introduce business to us and help us throughout this semester.

There are a lot of challenges and obstacles we must face in order to complete the whole objective. At first, I think it is impossible to do the project as we have many tests and assignments to do and I am not confident to do multiple task in one time. But the result is satisfying and amazing. It turned out to be fun and incredible to sell things out rather than stress. It is totally wonderful and best to get know customers and suppliers. Along the course, I have gained a lot of knowledge, fun and new valuable skills that is paramount in this era. What I have learnt from the first class until the end is priceless. It is about how to start a business, marketing strategies and the right ways to run the business. We have been exposed on the Business Model Canvas and NABC. It is indeed a very useful tool and concept especially when it comes to the newbie like me, to begin a business with the basic one. Both BMC and NABC are relatable to one another. The factor of a business is determined from many aspects like customer segments, relationships, channels, key activities, resources and much more. So, in order to be a successful entrepreneur, we must fully understand and follow the rules and regulations of the business. In addition, throughout the interview with an experienced entrepreneur, he shared of his challenges and achievements which are inevitably vital. This course also taught me to deal with the online business through social media platform and we used Facebook as our main channel to promote our product. We have done it as a group and clearly we can see all these teamwork effective. We have sold a variety of dessert such as cheesekut oreo, watermelon Sago, green bean with sweet potato and sweet corn.

To sum up, UHAK1032 is honestly a good course which provides the students with business which is crucial. As my opinion, everyone should try to open a business as a backup job other than the permanent job, no matter how the small the business it can be. Looking forward to have a company along with engineer ambition to be.

Every project or business need someone as a leader to push us to the limits because people will revolve and improve when through the hard time. This course is lead by our beloved lecture Dr. Sabrinah Adam, she give extra idea and make a relevant target for business sales. So the business plan that we plan to do is run entrepreneur activity during this full semester. For our group, we decided to sell Chicken Burger/Kebab because our target market is of course the student so this type of food have high potential to be sell out due to relevant meal for dinner or supper. Our product just RM 2.50 per meals, the price is very cheap and reasonable so we just need to hard work to find a buyer. We use many type of method to run this business to promote our product such as, facebook and whatsapps and direct sellings. For this project many things that I learnt that is every day we need to brainstorm among the member to find out what something new that we can do to our product to make the repetition buyer. For me, from this entrepreneur project, I've learned how to independently conduct a business as my individual role would effects the team's outcome. As a team member we need volunteer to do that we specialise and shine in that role because it will give to team morale boost in term of teamworking and built a trust between the group member. I have also understood the importance of owning a responsibility and be a good team player. When we do the business not all the time we are in profit sometime we will loss our budget due to some problem because business is like a real life it rotate like a wheel sometime we at top and we also can at the lowest. 

Lastly, the great things that I experience and increase my role for better future is every week we need to present our business progress in class so when we present infront of audience it will build our confident and morale regarding our product that we have made so far. From this also we can improve our language and communication skills when do the question and answer sessions within the class and the lecturer. We need to try as good  as possible to backup or product because it is our responsible as a owner and a staff. Lastly, the most important things that I learned from the subject is we need to perform to the limit as individual and a member of group because if we not it will effect other member and the business too due to lack of focus and determination to complete the task. Each group of member is like a  support if one of them is broken, the project will fail and cannot complete nicely and completely. That’s all my reflection toward this project in this subject. This subject allowed me to understand that the requirements of becoming  successful entrepreneur and it also requires the individual to possess certain intellectual and physical skills along with have strong emotional skills so that the new business can be initiated in a successful manner. After learning about the importance of emotional skills, I developed a mindset that I need to work upon improving my emotional and social skills so that this helps me to become a successful entrepreneur. 

This course also introduces the fundamental concepts and principles of entrepreneurship and the process of starting a business venture. A three-stage approach is used to achieve is understanding the individual characteristics of an entrepreneur,  analysing business opportunities and forming an entrepreneurial venture, and  developing a business model for the new venture idea. At first, I have be exposed to the concepts and principles of entrepreneurship and individual characteristics and the required skills to manage business ventures successfully. Then, introduced to techniques and tools to analyse and assess business ideas and the procedures to set up business ventures in Malaysia. Finally, we learned from the project 3 as entrepreneur we must take a risk to ensure better outcome.

 

Throughout this whole semester of enrolling in this subject, UHAK1032 Introduction to Entrepreneurship, I had learned a lot about teamwork, communication skills, and leadership from doing the assignments and projects given in this course. It gave me valuable insight on how to be an entrepreneur from developing my communication skills, to time management, to working in a team and so on. During Project 1, we were given a task to interview an entrepreneur. This task is quite challenging for me as I had never conducted an interview before. I also lack the good communication skills that were needed in interviewing an entrepreneur. However, after practising with my team members, I was able to improve my communication skills greatly and this gives me the confidence to go forth with the interview.

During Project 2, we were given a task to create a prototype to showcase our business concept. In this task, I had learned a lot about how to develop a business concept by focusing on the customer’s needs. This project taught me how to think like an entrepreneur and solve the problems that the customer’s face. Next, this project also taught me how to develop our business idea from a concept to a prototype that we can show to our customers. Furthermore, this project also taught me communication skills that every entrepreneur needs in order to attract and convince people about the benefits of my business concept and prototype.

During Project 3, we were given a task to create an online business. In this task, I had learned a lot about the importance of teamwork and effort. I learned to cooperate with my team member and give my best effort in ensuring the online business was a success. This task was challenging as students have limited time that can be spent on this project. Therefore, this task teaches me how to manage my time properly and allocate the time needed to complete this task. At the start of this project, I was a bit unmotivated as the sales I was getting is very little. However, my team members and I came up with a new product to boosts our sales in order to achieve the intended target. Therefore, when running a business, there will be times where we think that it is too difficult to manage, and we become unmotivated but we as entrepreneurs must be vigilant and persevere through the difficulties in order to obtain success.

In conclusion, this course has been very beneficial for me as I had learned a lot from it. The skills and guidance that I obtained will be used in the future. I would like to thank my lecturer for UHAK 1032 Dr Sabrinah Adam for her willingness to teach me the skills and guidance needed to be an entrepreneur. When running a business, we must put our best effort and work hard for the business to succeed and prosper. There are no shortcuts when conducting business. Next, we also need to manage our time properly. Without time management, the business would seem to be difficult and hard to manage. Finally, when running a business, we must able 

From project one, we managed to interview a business women whom has started her business for 22 years. She told me that determination and persistence are the major elements that she holds throughout these years to run her business. But for me, I see sacrifices. She has to sacrifice a huge amount of money for investment, sacrifice her time to take care of her store and lastly sacrifice her chance of finding a partner. Thus, running a business for me requires sacrifices but if you really enjoy it, it is worth it. From project two, we came out with a business idea that can solve the problems faced by UTM students. I have learnt how to design business model canvas (BMC) before starting a business. There are many things to take aware of instead of just thinking an idea. I also learned about NABC which stand for Need, Approach, Benefits and Competition when coming out a solution for the problems faced by UTM students.           

Last but not least, the most interesting project three, starting an online business. This is really a new challenge for me as I have never thought of starting a business in my life. Online business I would say it is not an easy task but also not difficult too. It is just a brand new experience for me. Through online business, I learned how to manage our business well, how to attract customers to look through our products, how to communicate with the people confidentially and more. Online business is fun but it is not my cup of tea. I enjoy the opportunity given as to start a business online but most probably it will not be something that I will continue doing in future. It is a chance that worth trying however it would not last long for me as it needs interest too. However thanks Dr! It is really happy and glad to be taught by you 

After i attending this class, i just realized that entrepreneurship course is quite interesting for me. I think some of the reasons are come from our lecturer Dr Sabrinah. Dr Sabrinah is a very strict but friendly and funny lecturer.  teach us in a very funny way  She never pressure us so that we have to perform very well and perfectly in our project but what she wanted us to do is we have to put our efforts, try our best to complete our tasks. The only thing she wanted us to know is totally understanding what we had learnt throughout this course and have basic or more knowledge about entrepreneurship after attending this course.

What did i learn from this course? Hmm, for me i think i learn a lot from this subject UHAK 1032. First and foremost, i learn how to have a well planning before kicking start an online business. I know how to plan a business by using BMC. By using this template i will have a systematic and well planning online business. In project 1, I learnt how to interview an entrepreneur by using a very formal speech. Because of interviewing the successful entrepreneur, I became a very motivated people and have deeper knowledge about property because the entrepreneur that we interviewed is a property agent. I was inspired by his story, his story is quite motivated in which he came from the family of poor, he always went for part time job during his university life but he never give up. Also, through this project i know how to design a poster. Project 2 is about NABC which is propose a business that we like. Our group decide to start a car rental service’s business in UTM. Throughout this project, I know how to design a website because our car rental service is an online business in which students can rent the car through the website. 

Dr Sabrinah guided us how to start an online business if not we all are blur what should we do. She guided us how to register SSM before kicking start our online business. Then she taught us what is BMC and how BMC is very importance before starting a business. 

Last but not least, project 3 is the most interesting and challenging project since we can have a real experience to sell the things online. This the first time for me to run a business, I felt nervous because I scared that I cannot managed our business well. We decided to sell dessert. There were lots of cases happened during our first time delivery like our delivery was not on time and then complaint by the customers, missing of money. But for the next delivery, there was no such problems arise because we already find a good solution to solve it .Throughout this project, I know how to communicate and deal with customers. Besides, I learnt how to solve the problems wisely without panic. Last, I want to thanks my teammate who are willing to cooperate with me in order to complete our projects on time. And also, I want to thanks Dr Sabrinah who is the best lecturer ever that always guide us in order to make sure that we can complete out task perfectly.

As I sit down to reflect on my time in Introduction to Entrepreneurship subject, I’m roughly unbounded from my last business class. Right now I’m towards the end of 1^st semester for 2019/2020 session and preparing or more likely focusing on some projects and revision for final exam that awaits me on closing of 2019. At this point, I’ve got plenty of knowledge regarding business and the variety of way to deal applicate them. As an engineering-based student, that knowledge I gained from the class really opened my eyes about the reality of the outside world. Working is not a something to deal with my field only. Yet if I becoming the leader of organization in company or society, then that knowledge would be come around to assist me. Definitely, I could shine as a premier entrepreneur as well as a competent engineer only if I really put myself into this knowledge. Plus, it also trained my soft skill very well. From years to years, after all the moments through the class projects, they really taught me something that can’t be implement into myself by external force. Perhaps, they should be come in natural way. Love, trust, self-confident, appreciation, sacrifice, helpful, unfear of risk ahead. Those are slowly elevating my attitude towards a better person. Furthermore, being involved in class projects also generate ideas in management aspect. Under some critical circumstances, I’m able to drive to a good decision without doubt and solve complex problems when they arise.

And to my lecturer, Dr. Sabrinah Adam, truth to be told, I miss her and also the classmates. Learning with Dr. Sabrinah is one my best moment in UTM. Her styles, credibility and the way she works truly spectacular. She really pictured me the real entrepreneur. Being an engineer is being as simple as can such as dress up, work, philosophy and many others. As being under her student, I can work something out. She told many entrepreneur principles that can be utilized to appear as a real entrepreneur in the outside world soon. Other than that, in giving lectures also the best part of Dr. Sabrinah. In learning, I’m more of a visual learner than an auditory learner. Her learning techniques which using PowerPoint works well for me to retain knowledge instead of listening to the content she explains. Her philosophies in teaching business skills really useful and it has corrected my wrong expectation to the entrepreneur. One of her saying that I can remember till now is ‘… whatever problems happen; the customer is your key…’. Therefore, those philosophies can be used to initiate and sustain our business properly. It’s so good to learn under Dr. Sabrinah. 

Based on the philosophies that I grabbed from the lectures, me and my group member applicate them to our online business project. Throughout the months of running the business, truly we really felt the reality of business. Many challenges come across such as unavailability of raw material, insufficient budget to hold the business, sales short problem, loss of raw material, time constraints of each group member and many others. In fact, business is all about taking the risk. Whether you are able to take that or not. It is very grateful that we able to burden the challenges one by one even if it’s slowly. When dealing with customers, we always keep this old Malay people saying in our hearts but in the inverted way that is:

“Buang Yang Jernih, Ambil Yang Keruh”

That means, we should go take the risk, accept with open heart the complaint by customers, find out the bad of our products instead of just sitting down and let the business flow as it should be. Thus, the business will have sustainable development and able to hit the highest market value locally and globally. Overall, I want to thank lovely Dr. Sabrinah, classmates, group member for being with me throughout the semester and making me the luckiest man in my life. Till we meet again and I hope we can strive for excellent together.

 

For our project 3, we sell sweets, tissues and drinks. At first I thought that the project is difficult enough because I do not have the skills to attract people to buy our goods. Then, after the first presentation, it went downhill for me because we are given a target which we had did not have before. The target is Rm 100 per person and by selling our goods, I know it is impossible in the given time. From that day, I know that I have to step up my game. So we introduced new goods that we can sell that is Rotizza and Sauswich that is very much our saviour. We manage to achieve our target sales because of the marketing skills that we have learnt and the connection that each of us have so it is easier to find customer. Our leader of this project is also reliable. This is because of his skills and mentality, we successfully achieve our target. Our teamwork is also outstanding and everyone in this group knows their own role and we gave our very best until the end.

In conclusion, there are many things that I have learnt during this business period. There are many more small details that I have not mention but the details also helped us to achieve better results. I realize that although business gave students a lot of work and it will make student’s life more miserable but on the bright side, there are many things that we can learn through business. Business has taught me to be more creative and innovative, have courage to try new things and other attributes that are important as a student. I know that I have improve much through this business. We also manage to make some side income that is the best outcome of all. So I would like to say thank you to Dr. Sabrinah for giving me opportunity like this and becomes better. Without your teachings, I think It is more difficult to achieve what I have achieved right now.

 

 

            The first project requires us to interview an entrepreneur who at least have been in the business field for 5 years. From this project, I have learned that starting your business may be easy but maintaining it is definitely not as easy as we thought. Besides, every business has its own up and down and it depends on how we make the business sore high. In addition to that, from interviewing the entrepreneur that we have chosen, I learned that giving up is never in her dictionary. We may do anything and everything we want but we cannot ever give up no matter how hard it is. Sometimes, those challenges that we faced are those that going to make us a better, stronger and more successful person. 

 

            The second project that we needed to complete is NABC and BMC. I still remember vividly Dr SabrinaH was telling us to come up with any idea; idea that is unique and can help people around us so my teammates and I have come out with an idea of building a hot meal vending machine at our faculty. We have to figured out with the NABC and BMC like why us? Why not others? Why not the faculty cafeteria? And etc. Besides, we are also required to build a prototype regarding our business idea and to be honest that time when Dr announced it, it kind of shocked us as we were all thinking how do we even build a vending machine. But, in the end, it all went well. The process of building the vending machine was fun too as we all brainstormed together on how to make it unique and simple at the same time. It may not be as advanced as what another group did but at least ours was pretty and did it sincerely. It was definitely a memory I never will forget. 

 

            The third project which is contributed the most in this course is online business. To be honest, it kind of freak me on how will I successfully score in this project as I have zero interest and knowledge regarding online business. Worse some of my teammates did not have Facebook account and only created their account just for this business purposes. It kind of dawns on me how we going to make our business a success. As they all said, the first step is always the hardest but as long as you have taken the first step, don’t give up and everything will be fine. At first, our team wanted to sell phone casings but, in the end, decided to sell ladies accessories such as necklace and earrings as we thought it could have a better market compare to phone casings as a lot of people out there are already selling phone casings at a lower price. ‘Sparkles Bling’ is our business name and we came out with a slogan “Make yourself SPARKLES as BLING is your thing”. At first, our business was doing good but then it had a little downfall but thank god it was almost the 11/11 period so we came with a solution to have a promotion regarding 11/11 and it definitely boost our sales. Next, to boost one more time before we close our business, we came with another plan which is month end sales and thankfully we successfully sell all of our products by the time we close accounts. To be honest, doing a business has it ups and down but what we should do is to preserve and never give up. There’s always another way, another method to boost our sales and business. Ideas will never run out. It all just depends on whether we want or not. Besides, this project really make me indulge in business and fall in love in doing business. This project has taught me to be creative in coming up lots and lots of ideas and also to be courage. 

 

            Last but not least, I would like to express my gratitude to my lecturer, Dr Sabrinah for all the guiding and knowledge given. Thank you for always being there whenever we had trouble, thank you for always patiently answering our questions and thank you for always standing on our side and extending the presentation time due to us having exam. Thank you for everything. Really appreciate it a lot. I would also like to thank my teammates who have gone through hardship together in completing all the projects. Thank you for the time well spent. 

      Besides that, I also in charge of our business’s account, or in other words, the cash inflow and the cash outflow of our business. In this section, each of us contributed certain amount of money to our start-up capital and this money was handled by me. At the same time, any expenses required, for example purchasing goods, postage and petrol reimbursement shall be claimed from me, and all the money obtained through our sales was handled by me as well.

      Through this project, I have finally realized that it is not easy to initiate and operate a business. In my opinion, the most challenging part of online business is to maintain a constant customer source and to gain the customers’ trust. In our case, our sales was high in the beginning but slowly fades away. In my opinion, this is due to our failure in boosting our business exposure which makes it difficult for us to engage new customers and expand our business. 

      Furthermore, I have learned that, there are a lots of considerations that we have to take into account when operating our business. A lot of planning is required beforehand in order for our business to expand and be profitable. We must first identify our target customers and more importantly, to understand and fulfill our customers’ need and solve their problems.  
      In conclusion, I have gained a lot of knowledge and also some valuable hands-on experiences by starting our own business in a team. It was not easy, but I had a lot of fun and my contribution and sacrifice for this project was certainly rewarding and worth it. I would be bring along with me,all the knowledge I’ve gained through this course so that I could put them into practice in the future when I decide to start a business.

Firstly, I would like to thanks my UHAK1032 section 14 lecturer, Dr Sabrina. She always gives us valuable advice and guidance to us throughout the whole course. Dr Sabrina really help us a lot with her patience. Next, I really appreciate my teammates who give their responsible and cooperation to each other to complete all the project in UHAK subject. I learnt how to communicate well with others and work together with each other. 

During the first lecture class, we were taught that we need to figure out the customer pain as our first step to have a business idea. NABC (need, approach, benefit and competition) and BMC (business model canvas) is the first step to start a business. NABC and BMC help us to present our business idea in one slide and easier to us for delivery our business idea. Our group decided to design a business idea of opening family mart in KTSE. We required to think about the reason of opening family mart and the way to maintain our business. 

For the project one, we had interviewed an entrepreneur who operate a pharmacy in Taman Universiti. I realized that maintain a long-term business is very difficult and need to overcome a lot of obstacle. It is important to become determine when passing through all the up and downs. After interview session, we required to create a poster which includes all the main point from the interview. I learnt how to summaries the main point from the interview. I also learnt how to create a poster. My design skill, presentation skill had improved through this project. Dr Sabrina had thought us the idea of NABC and BMC. She also guided us that how to conduct an interview session with entrepreneur. 

Project three for me is really a ‘big’ project and it is a totally new thing for me. At first, we have no idea on what we are going to do for project three. After discussion and asking the needs from our friends, we decided to sell sliced fruits around UTM. We found that it is very difficult to get some fruit in UTM. The rules of avoid using fridge causes student would not like to buy fruit as there is not place for keep it. The first step after deciding our business, we had created a Facebook page. We uploaded our logo and cover photo. We also promoting our business throughout our FB page. We face a lot of difficult when receiving order through google form. We received very little order and we started to push our sale by promoting to our friends face by face and also by WhatsApp. We don’t have enough time to cut our fruit and causes delay of delivery time for the fruit to customers. We improved at second sale by starting to cut the fruit earlier. Start from sales three, we got a supplier who supply us fruit with ready sliced. 

From all the project in this course, I have learnt a lot of soft skills. My communication skill, presentation skills, team working and problem-solving skills have improved. I realized that business is not a thing for business students but is all of us who live in this world. Online business is a good platform for us to start a business as we can promoting and persuade our customers easily. By conducting a successful business is not easy instead we need to work really hard to maintain the profit of the business. 

In the first lecture, Dr Sabrinah teach us about the ways to generate a business idea. Identifying customer pain and determine customer needs are the things that we need to carry out in order to generate a good business idea as people is the key to success in a business. By identifying customer’s pain, we can know the targeted customer group and the market. After come up with a business idea, need, approach, benefit and competition (NABC) of the business has to be identified. I have also learnt that Business Model Canvas (BMC) can help to deliver financial performance and implementation plan clearly and completely. For our group, we found out that there is no hot meal around faculty during breakfast time. Hungry is our customers’ pain so we come out a hot meal vending machine business idea. Lastly, we present our business idea with a hot vending machine prototype.

For project 1, our task is to interview an experienced entrepreneur. From the interview, I have learnt that determination and persistence can help ones to become success. With determination, there will be nothing that cannot be solved. Having a positive thinking is also important. When we have a positive thinking, we can take the customers’ complaints as motivation to improve our weakness. Besides, the entrepreneur also highlights that customers are always prioritize because customer are the free advertiser for one business.

Lastly, our project 3 task is to set up an online business. Online business is totally a new thing to me. Before I attend UHAK class, I thought that online business is just simply sell things online but it is not as simple as I thought. Before someone want to sell things online, he or she will need to go to Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) to register their business so that they didn't break the law. Besides, managing a business is also difficult. We have to create a new Facebook (FB) page, design our own business logo and page cover and keep the FB page stay active. Poster is also needed for describe our product and attract customer. The first challenge that our group met is decide a suitable product to sell. We at first decided to sell I phone case but we can’t find the suitable design and cheap stock price so we changed our decision to women accessories. We successfully found some simple and nice design for necklace and earring in Alibaba. After discussing with teammates about the amount of stock that we had to order, I took up the responsibility to order at Alibaba as I am the only one who can read Chinese. While waiting the stock to ship from China to Malaysia, we started to write our copywriting and posted our poster in Facebook. We had divided our task equally among ourselves. I myself be in charge of ordering stock, recording expenses and income, Rhu Fong be in charge of recording transaction details and saving receipts, Yani be in charge of selling products while Luke and Umar be in charge of delivering, posting and FB managing. The work load is less when we work together as a team. Finally, we manage to sell all our stock and earn a total sales of RM1040.

In conclusion, I have learnt about the business registration process, FB pages management, team working, selling tactic and communication and presentation skills. I really enjoy the fun learning atmosphere that created by Dr Sabrinah. 

It was really an interesting first lecture as that was my first time using padlet.com for ice breaking session. We were required to upload few personal information with own photo for others to get to know about us. I got a little struggled because my data was not functioning well and there was only a circle keep rotating and rotating on my screen when we were given only 10 minutes for this tasks! However, this is the most effective ice breaking session I have ever been. I even found few coursemates with same origin as me!

From the lecture of Introduction to Entrepreneurship, I have learnt that there are a lot of things we have to consider before setting up a successful business.  I learned about how to develop business idea through appropriate innovative concept of NABC which stands for the “needs”, “approach”, “benefits”, and “competition”. Dr Sabrinah taught us on how to identify customers’ pain and how we are going to come up with solutions by providing the needs for customers. Not only that, I also learned about how to formulate the draft of a business idea by using Business Model Canvas (BMC). There were also two quizzes conducted during the lectures. The quizzes covered what Dr have taught us and thanks Dr Sabrinah for being so nice on giving us easy questions!

There are totally three project for this course. For Project 1, we were required to come up with an entrepreneur poster. It was quite a challenge for our group as we were rejected by few entrepreneurs at the beginning.  Luckily, we met a friendly Pharmacist at Taman Universiti, Skudai. From the interview session with Mdm Chuan, I realized that operating a business is not easy. It involves a lot of tactics and considerations for starting. It also goes through a lots of challenges and competitions. Next, my groupmates and I burned the midnight oil for meeting and we gathered up to discuss and work on our poster. It was a hard time since all of us are not talented in designing and editing. However, all of our hard work did pay off when Dr gave good comment on our poster! Sense of accomplishment reached level max at that moment!

Project 2 is about stimulation of new business idea. When we were first informed that we have to come up with an innovative business idea, I was totally blank. But luckily, with the concept of NABC that Dr Sabrinah has taught us, suddenly spark comes and my group decided to come up with an idea of setting a 24 hours Family Mart Franchise at KDSE. This is because Family Mart supplies food and groceries for students all day. I was proud because my group is able to come up with a 3D design of prototype for our BMC. 

Project 3 is the most suffering part in this course. Because it is about experiential entrepreneurial activity. Yeah, our project is to start an online business. I have never been doing this kind of thing before so I really have no idea how we are going to start. Dr Sabrinah is really responsible as she is always willing to answer our questions when we are facing difficulties. So the first thing we did was register our business on Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) in order to follow the Law of Malaysia before starting a business. Our group decided to sell sliced fruits with free delivery around UTM. We faced a lots of challenges during our business. For examples, going here and there to compare the price of the fruits and to find the ice supplier, running out of time for fruits cutting, keeping our fruits fresh and freeze for hours and arranging the schedule for delivery. However, our business is getting smooth when we are improving from what we have learnt from our mistake during the previous sales. On the other hand, we created Facebook Page to market our business. I found that Dr is really patience as she taught us how to register a Facebook Page step by step. I took up the responsibilities as an admin for the Facebook Page. So I manage all aspects of the Page and publish our business. In short, I found it interesting even it was quite difficult at the starting. In overall, I am proud to say my first online business runs quite successful!

In conclusion, this course is really interesting as it gives us opportunity to conduct business on our own. I have learnt a lot of things and acquired a lot of skills. Last but not least, I would like to express my greatest gratitude towards Dr Sabrina as she is a super nice lecturer! She even postponed our presentation for project 3 so that we can focus on our tests. She really shows her patience whenever we faced any problems. She never shown hesitation on explaining the process of registration of SSM to us and telling us in details what is needed for our final report. Thank you Dr!

            This is actually the first time I get to know more and learn more about business. This course let me know that it is not easy to start up a business and it is more difficult to make the businesses become successful. A successful business always contribute by a team of people who work hard on it. A business started by planning, the type of business that we want to do, how it is going to work, where do we get the product or gain the skill, and this is just some of the issue that we have to face by just going to start a business. More planning and discussion need to be done to solve  the problem that might cause the new business get into trouble.

             I used to be excited about getting started a business myself but I don't know how to get the business started. This course provides an opportunity for students to start a low cost business by providing the free business registration ,which reduced the load of us as a student with weak base of financial income. In the weekly lecture, I have been introduced to NABC (Need, Approach, Benefit, Competition) and BMC (Business Model Canvas) to understand more about how to plan a business well and wisely by targeting the groups of customers and knowing what is needed by customers. We can make sure the business is going to have a customer base in order to keep the business ongoing and last long. The knowledge that we have learned in the lecture can apply directly to the online business that we are required to do with. This is a perfect opportunity to try starting a business.

            After starting the business, we use social media to promote our business and it reason have fun to think about the word to advertise our product in Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram as well. The first purchase by customers is always exciting and giving us the inspiration to boost our sales to higher value. I have learned how to work with others to manage a business. This is totally different from the previous project that I have been done because business required everyone to provide certain amount of money to starting up the business. Money issue must be handle carefully to prevent argument happened among the teammates. We should prevent conflict in the group because the argument may affect the business ongoing and sales, which bring the bad effect towards the team. 

            This course make me learned so much knowledge, it doesn't matter in terms of business or in the ways of we solving problems in real life. And special thanks to my lecturer for the course , introduction to entrepreneurship , Dr. Sabrinah Adam. She teaches me to increase my choice of jobs in the future. Entrepreneurship will be one of my choice to continue to work on my life after graduating from University.

            During the first week of the semester, Dr sabrinah had introduced the class about entrepreneurship and what we will learn throughout the semester. We were introduced about three projects that we will do for this courses. Next, we learnt about BMC and NABC. We can develop an innovative business concept through appropriate innovative techniques which is by design, thinking and NABC Approach. After that, we can draft our business plan using BMC. This is the right way to start up a successful business. For our Project 2, we need to present about our BMC and NABC.  I think Dr Sabrinah had taught us well because we were really understand and can do our project without much difficulties. For our Project 1, we need to interview one entrepreneur and make a poster. Dr Sabrinah had overview our question for interview session to see whether it is appropriate. Then, for Project 3 she helped us a lot throughout the business. She guide us from the start until end and give us a lot of knowledge and advices. 

             Last but not least, Project 3 contributes a lot of marks therefore we need to work hard for this task. For Project 3, we need to run an online business. It is not easy to start a business and I think it needs a lot of effort and work to become successful. First, we learnt to use Facebook page as a platform to reach our customers through social media. Facebook page make it easier for us to communicate with our customers and promote our business. Before mid-semester break, we need to register our business in SSM. This process took about one week and after we completed it we can start our business. We start our business by promoting through Whatsapp and Facebook. We did a lot of promotion to attract the customers with a low price services. During the business, I learnt to improve my soft skills because I need to interact with a lot of people. Apart from that, I also learnt to manage my time between studies and business. It is hard for me to manage my time during earlier of the semester but I managed to make it until end of the semester. Lastly, I think this course give a lot of advantages to the students and perhaps we can use this knowledge in other courses. 

From this subject, I also had a chance on doing the online business with our coursemates, from nothing until we can operate the business well. Before starting the business, we were having a discussion on what kind of the online business that we need to do. Although we had some arguments on choose the suitable type of business to operate, however we came out with a conclusion that we will do the online business on food and drinks delivery. For the first two online business services, the food was made by our own and the food was ordered from other stores and it was delivered to the customers for the rest of the services. As a driver for delivering the food, I was very satisfied that the customers receive the food with happiness and thus it gives me more motivation on doing the business. 

From lecturer’s opinion, Dr Sabrinah, who is a lecturer that gives us the idea on doing the business in the class, wanted us to learn something from the lessons and she hoped us to grab an idea on doing the business well so we can be a great entrepreneur in the future. Even though we will not be an entrepreneur in the future, we also can give some advices or suggests to our friends who want to operating the online business, offline business or both. I felt appreciate that we will have a chance on doing the online business by our own and obtain some useful knowledges from Dr Sabrinah so we can share our experience to the others who wanted to start a business.

            Need is applied where there is no source of people needs in some place. For example, a few years ago students have no place to print their assignment, thesis and many more as the printing shop is not open yet. This shows that printing shop is needed in UTM. So, after a while some people notice this lack of tools in UTM, so they tried to approach them. This benefit makes them open a printing shop in UTM. Competition is where there are too much of printing shop opened in UTM. 

            Other than that, the place where to put your business also needs to put in consideration. As the strategic place can attract more customer. For example, in UTM you have to place your printing shop at where students always flock around which is their faculty or café. 

            Dr Sabrinah also taught us about online business. For online business she taught me how to do our social media page for online business looks attractive. We use Facebook as our tools for online business. We have to always update about our customer satisfaction in Facebook pages so that people trust our online business. She also said that we should open up our heart when customer gives negative feedbacks about our products so that we can improve our product. This is what we called customer pains. 

            For this subject, me and my groupmates have to make a business in 2 months. This is because, Dr Sabrinah wants us to experience how it feels when we are doing our own business. This subject is very crucial because with this lesson we can survive when there is no job opportunity after graduation. I am so thankful to Dr Sabrinah and fellow friends, I hope we can be a great entrepreneur in the future.

First and foremost, I would like to say thank you to my beloved and lovely lecture, Dr Sabrina Adam to guide me and all my friends throughout this subject, UHAK 1032 Introduction to Entrepreneurship with patient until we finished our project. Next thank you to each my group member for giving full cooperation and commitment in every project. Last but not least, a very thank you to my customer and friends for support our last project, which is an online business, without them we’re nothing.

What I learn from this subject is about business in how to choose suitable business, how to start it and how to manage the business in the long term. To choose the business is not easy because we need to consider many aspects to help our business success. It is very important to know what is the need and the problem of people in our surroundings, so that we can start the business according people need and problem. Other than that, we also need to consider about competition that may affect our business. It is also given inspiration to us start the business and make it much better than others, so that the customer will choose our services.

Throughout this semester, Dr Sabrina had given much advice and guide to us on our online business. She had shown us step by step on how to start the business especially in online business. For beginning she asks us to create a Facebook account as it is one the platform for us to promote our business. Other than that, we need to create an e-commerce account as it is one website that is very help us in managing in our sale and calculate the profit that we had earn. The most favorite website for me is canvas, this website is very easy to handle and very help us to design our poster and also a logo for ourselves.

For the last project, which is an online business, it is not easy to become an entrepreneur as I aspect before. To become an entrepreneur is not easy as it is need a lot of commitment and patient in business. For me the most challenging is to find a customer and get their trust on our business. For my group, we sell a junk food from Thailand and also if our customers need others special order. It is quiet difficult at the first to find customer as we only blast our product in our school, but after that we make decisions to ask help from our friend from another college and faculty to blast our product. A week after that, we had received customer from other school and also from other than UTM student. Later we get to increase our sale until received our target.

The first task that I got is to interview a successful and 10 year experience entrepreneur. I realized to become a long term entrepreneur is full with expectation and challenges. Many preparation need to be done to become one. Miss Nisa, the entrepreneur that my group interviewed shared some of her experience to overcome it. The most important things is never give up and always get up once we fall down. Let our mistakes become lesson to us. Listened to her story of entrepreneur life gave me a lot of knowledge about entrepreneur. This task also taught me about the communication and presentation skills as we need to present the poster of the entrepreneur that we choose. Along with that, I learned editing skills to make a simple but informative poster.

The next project is NABC and BMC project. This project is about ideation and introduction of business model. NABC is the abbreviation of Need, Approach, Benefits and Competition. It is the elements that are needed to generate idea before we start our business. I need to think the pain that customer have faced to fulfil customers’ needs and solve the problem. BMC is the abbreviation of Business Model Canvas. BMC is a strategic management template for developing new or documenting and upgrading existing business models. It is to understand all the information needed for investor. My group presents edible water bottle that convenient to the athlete especially runner to stay hydrate and at the same time save the environment from plastic pollution. In this project I learned about the important aspect that need to be considered before start the business. People are the key to success and focusing in people’s pain is the key.

My last project is online business. My group and I need to start our own business and sell our product through online. We already faces challenges at the beginning of our business because we do not know what to sell that can attract the customer and bring profit to us. We all have target sales that we need to achieve so we need to think carefully about the product that we sell. After a lot of consideration, we decided to sell our handmade curry and egg sandwiches. However, on the second week we sold chocolate cake, brownies and coconut jelly as it consume less energy and expenses compared to sell sandwiches. This project taught me teamwork are very important and everyone need to play their own part well so business can run smoothly. It also taught me the communication skills between my members and our customers. Communication with customer is important as we need to know what they want and make sure that they satisfy with our product. Besides, I also learned how to promote our product through social media. We must promote using the description and picture of our product that can appeal to the customer. There are many struggle that we have to face especially when we need to balance between our studies and this project but I very thankful because my members, friends and I gave support to each other.

 

In the first class, I learned about the course learning outcome that has been told by Dr. Sabrinah. Next, I start to learn more about the business venture by doing the first project. I need to find and interview an entrepreneur that has been engaged in business for more than five years. Because of that, our team does research about the entrepreneur around the UTM and we found out one entrepreneur that fulfills our requirement. After that, we noted the advice given to us to present as a poster. We include all the information and advice on the poster. From that interview, I have learned that to be a successful entrepreneur you must face the failure and overcome that failure with the hard work. 

For the second project, I need to cooperate with my teammates to brainstorm the idea to improve or invent something new to the people by using BMC and NABC concepts. Therefore, I come out with an interesting idea called Edible Water Bottle. Next, we need to make a prototype of it. Luckily, that Edible Water Bottle is not to complicate to do. From that, I learned to be an entrepreneur we need to have a strategy, plan, and target before selling our product to the customer.

For the third project, we need to be an entrepreneur. The first thing we do is to complete the registration of SSM and build up a company page for marketing. We come out with an idea to sell the sandwich. After that, we find it difficult and not very convenient for us. Because of that, we change our product by selling cakes and brownies. After everyone agreed to sell cakes and sandwiches, we remembered that we need a supplier that could supplies to us with that product. Therefore, I told everyone to search if there any supplier located around UTM. Then, I found one cake at the petrol station names ‘Dyanies Delicious’ and immediately save the phone number. After that, I contact and deal with the supplier to be an agent. It is because the price we buy under agent names is cheaper than buy as a customer. Next, the supplier agreed and she sends all the photos of the product. We took that photo and editing a little bit and start collecting the order. The cakes and brownies that we sold had a higher demand than we sell sandwiches. Therefore, we successfully achieve the target sales and also got more profit.

Lastly, I would like to thank you to Dr. Sabrinah that makes me understand more about the business venture. Every time she gave a lecture during the class, I always get a piece of new knowledge, not just about a business but also the soft skill that I could improve to be a better person.  

This project between late October to early December, but if we calculate the preparation to start up business its can go back to November.  During this time ,we learn how to register our company and how to start up our business such as find idea, suitable company name that able to attract customer attention and also give a summary of our company , setup our modal and other activity.

We also learn the importance and how powerful social media to promote business and product. From as simple word through posting will define how many sell we will get. We learn that we need some catchphrase in our first word to attract our possible customer. Bold some word that importance such as price and product able to make customer easier to “scan” our posting.

The real deal that we learn is to provide price that cheap and also we able maximize our profit. We learn that we need to buy things as cheap as possible but sale it with affordable price to customer. We also able to come out combo set that will force customer to buy our product , this will increase our sell and also we able to add some hidden charge to increase our profit. This combo also able to be platform to introduce to our new product , for example during our sell rotizza we provide free tissue to increase our tissue sale  and tell customer we also sell tissue.

Moreover , we learn how compromise with our team member since our schedule different , we divide our task depend on the availability  each team member at that day.

We also learn about the importance of pressure in order to increase our potential , thanks to our Dr. Sabrina that set our target a bit higher than we previous expected potential. But due this pressure we able to come out with rotizza and others alternative product and ideas. 

            From this course, I have learned a lot of useful knowledge about running a business. First and foremost, I learned about NABC (Need, Approach, Benefit, and Competition) and BMC (Business Model Canvas) and I realised that it is very important for us to create the NABC and BMC before starting a business. It was really my first time to create own NABC and BMC and it was quite a tough task to all of our group members, because we were lack of bombastic idea for our business. However, we were grateful that Dr Sabrinah was very passionate to give comment to assist us and at last we were able to complete the task successfully.

                Apart from that, through the lecture, I learned that identification of customer pain is very important to build our business. I really love the quote “Your most unhappy customer is your greatest source of learning” because it really helped me a lot while I doing the online business in Project 3 as it made me realised that customer pain can help us to generate a good business idea. Thus, our group decided to do food delivery service as UTM students are lack of transportation and time to go out to have a meal. During doing online business, our group faced the problem that our customers get bored when the menu of our delivery service remained the same for the whole time, so after discussion, our group came out with the idea of changing the menu for each time of delivery service. While doing the online business, we also faced the problem of lack of manpower and time to prepare the food as we did not expect the huge number of order for our first delivery. This made us realised that time management and good job distribution are really significant to run a good business. 

           Last but not least, I would like to thank our beloved lecturer, Dr Sabrinah for always being passionate, dedicated, patient in teaching us.  At first, I thought that running a business is a very tough and it requires a very is totally not an enjoyable process. However, in her lecture, she always makes the class enjoyable and not stressful and this really makes me wish to be an entrepreneur after graduation.

The first task given to us was to find an entrepreneur which has run their business for more than 5 years. It is a very easy task because there is a lot of entrepreneur around UTM. After a lot of consideration, my team decided to choose hairdressing service businessman to interview. The interview run smoothly without any inconvenience to any side. From the interview we got many handy tips from the entrepreneur to run business.

The second task was NABC and BMC presentation. For this task we need to present about our idea of business and strategies. We also need to do our own prototype. Our business project was bicycle renting. We developed our own apps for the users to get access to our bike in designated bicycle stations around UTM. For me, it is a very useful experience to contribute and generate ideas with my teammates. It is a very fun process and we were very excited to do this assignment.

The last task was to do our own online business. For our online business we want to sell UTM graduate bouquet at first, but we decided to change it later because another group had done it first. So we decided to food delivery services. We have our own company logo and Facebook page. Our company name is Chem F.D which was abbreviation of Chemical Food Delivery. For this assignment we need to make sales at least RM 100 per person which our group had achieved. We also would like to thank our friends for supporting our business.

All in all, I had a lot of fun and also learn a lot throughout all the assignment. I hope that I can take all this precious experience to face the real challenge after graduate and arm myself with all the knowledge that I got from this course.

For the first project, we interview an entrepreneur who have been 5 years in business field. I learned that the most important thing to start the business is not give up easily. If you were fail, don’t give up but take it as a challenges to you to become successful person. Next, for the second project which is BMC and NABC. BMC stand for Business Model Canvas and NABC stand for Need, Approach, Benefits and Competition. We were required to design business idea and my team decided to make a hot meal vending machine. We take this idea from what we had learned from BMC and NABC. Besides, we were required to make a prototype for this vending machine and my team brainstorm on how to make this. It seems impossible at first but we did it in 2 days and present it in the class. 

Next, the last project which is online business contributes a lot of marks for this subject therefore we need to work hard on it. Honestly, I have nothing about business thus it seems impossible for me to success. But thanks to my team members and beloved lecturer for guiding me about this business. My team decided to sell ladies accessories such as necklace and earrings. Our business name is ‘Sparkles Bling’ and we came out with a slogan “Make yourself SPARKLES as BLING is your thing”. We started business through social media and we also do a lot of promotion to attract more customers. For 2 months, we successfully achieve our lecturer’s target. 

In conclusion, I want to express my deep and sincere gratitude to my beloved and respectful lecturer, Dr Sabrinah Adam for helping and guiding me throughout this semester. I learned a lot from her such as skills of presentation, how to run the business, time management and more. The words that I still remember from Dr Sabrinah was ‘Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destination. Don’t quit!’. A big thank also to my team members and my friends for supporting each other’s despite the stress and struggles of operating our own works. Thank you.

From project 1, I learned about the individual character of an entrepreneur. We are required to interview an entrepreneur and make a poster about him/her. We choose Mrs. Khairunnisa, the owner of Warisan K which is one of the food stalls located at Arked Cengal. We get the opportunity to ask her some questions such as the challenges as an entrepreneur, the risk and also her achievement. Know, I realized that everyone can be an entrepreneur but not everyone can be a successful entrepreneur. We need to make a detail business plan before starting a business. This is related to our project 2 which required us to make BMC and NABC. I love doing this project because I get to learn the proper way to propose our business idea using Business Model Canva. “A goal without a plan is just a wish”, that is why to be a successful entrepreneur, we have to come out with the detail and clear plan. In the end we manage to deliver it very well and she was very satisfied with our presentation and also, she gave a positive comments about it.

Now it is time for me to share the most challenging part in this course We need to run up an online business for real. We need to register our business in SSM as well. At first, we were planning to sell shirt but then we change our plan last minute and decided to sell sandwich. A week after that we change again our product to dessert due to some problems. For this product, we managed to collect five batches of orders. Our signature dessert is chocolate cheesecake and it gets a higher demand from the customers. Along running this business, I learned more about how to corporate with my business partner which is my beloved teammates. We must work together to achieve the target and all of us playing our role very well. I have a good time during work with them This project also taught me how to handle customers well as they say “the customer always right” so we need to put them first among the others. Overall, I can say that we had success in this task because we had achieved the targeted sale.

Last but not least, now I can say that business is an interesting field to explore not a stressful one that I had thought before. I learned so many new things here and I would like to thank my teammates for being there with me and be supportive along this semester.

As an engineer student, I had only thinking about calculus and how to solve problem related to engineering field. This is the reason why I never consider of studying of how to become an entrepreneur. On the first class, it was said that this course what introduced by the government to help the graduate to at least try to gain income while searching for a job. Meaning that this course is one of few new skills that students must learn now. After introducing ourselves to Dr Sabrinah, she proceeds to inform us that this course will have 3 main projects. The first project is to find an entrepreneur which has operate his/her business for at least 5 years. And our job is to interview him/her and make a poster with all the information that we get from the interview. The second project was we need to think about a business using NABC and BMC model. And the final project was we need to become and entrepreneur by selling a product or services. To be honest, when we all heard about the final project, we were afraid because most of us never sell something before. But Dr Sabrinah said that is will be okay as time pass.

After that, we need to find our group member. Some of the student want Dr Sabrinah to decide who will be going to which group, and some want the freedom to choose their own group member. After discussing, Dr Sabrinah decided that is will be easier if we decide which group member that we want. For each team, Dr Sabrinah want a mix of race and gender, so that there will not be a dominant in the group. In my group, there are Aiman Hakim, Catherine Ong, Lim Jin Hong, and Lim Jia Yuan. We then discuss on who we want to interview for project 1. Aiman and me decided that we will be the one that search and set appointment to interview the entrepreneur. After searching for a while, we decided to interview the owner of You & Me Hair, Makeup, Academy, Mr Jacky Low Kok Thai and Madam Priscillia Kuan Huai Hwee. We managed to set an appointment for interview session on 17^th October at 3p.m. On that day, we went and ask how they start up their business, what are the obstacles that the face, and the advice for young entrepreneur for them to be success. 

For second project, we decided to do a business related to bicycle renting. The reason why we choose to rent bike is because it will help student to go to somewhere in UTM easily. And it is much more convenient compared to the bus as the bus usually do not follow their schedule of time. This situation that will causes the student to be late to class. By introducing a bike rented services, we could help them to come earlier to class and help them to go around UTM easily. We also plan on how to gain side income from our business, which is rent the board on our bike station for advertisement and sell mineral water at the station. The obstacle that we might have face is maybe to compete with bike rental at Tasik Ilmu or Meranti, as they have operated for a long time. 

Last but not least, the final project which we need to sell a product or services. By far, this is the hardest project that we received. It is because most of the team have someone related to entrepreneur to help them. At first, our group decided to sell flower at the FESKO as it is near the graduation session for this year. However, we fail to find the supplier, and thus we back to square one. After a few day later, we come out with the idea of food delivery like Food Panda or Grab Food. However, we focus more on the shop which is not available in both applications, for us to make less competition with them. After done a survey, we choose 4 restaurants, which are Aha Recipe, Tengku Impian, N0. 1 Food Court and LaPasta for our project. At Aha Recipe, we deliver western food like chicken chop while at Tengku Impian, we deliver their speciality, which is fruit juice like manga susu and nangka susu. For both LaPasta and No. 1 Food Court, the dishes are based on Chinese cuisine. Total sale that we get are almost Rm2000, which are impressive for us who do not have the basic of entrepreneurship before. 

In conclusion, I would love to say thank you for my group member which really help me to strive in this subject. Without them, I would never achieve such achievement related to entrepreneur. Lastly, I hope that I can apply the knowledge that I gain from Dr Sabrinah later in future. 

 

Second, I’ve learn a lot in this subject which is UHAK 1032. More than I did learn in my previous diploma. I took entrepreneur subject during my diploma, exactly like this which is we have to do online business also but have a bit difference which is in this subject we have to assign our SSM in real. So, i am very impress which is I feel like having the real business legally. Next, i also learn how to prepare poster business in proper. We also learn about NABC and stuff. How connection between customer until partner in business. I also enjoyed during all this project, cause my group mate giving such a good cooperation.

 

Next, Dr Sabrinah Adam has taught us many knowledge about business. In the first project, we need to do poster on our role model. So our group choose, aunt and uncle one of my group mate as our role model in business. The task is we have to interview them about their business. From the interview session, we learn that without knowledge and hard work, we cannot succeed in whatever we do. Next, we also learn about NABC and stuff in this subject. In this project 2, we can see the connection from customer until partner in business. Overall are started from the customer. What they need in their life and how we fulfill the need. 

 

Lastly, project 3 which is online business that provide 50% of our grade for this subject. At first, i feel afraid of starting this online business. I am afraid if we facing failure or could not achieve the target as we have to key in all the data in e-commerce. E-commerce is the website which the government manage to see our online business, either success or not. But overall, we managed to finish this project. Thank you again to Dr. Sabrinah Adam.

    In the first class, Dr. Sabrina brief to us our course information and the three project that we will do. The first project is make a entrepreneur poster, second is the NABC and BMC and the last one is Online Business. For making entrepreneur poster, I have been experience on how I communicate to interview with the real entrepreneur. We had a sharing session where they share about experience where they started and committed to create their own business, what the hardest moments when doing their business. Its very exciting to hear those stories and its make us inspired. For the NABC and BMC, we have to brainstorming and build some ideas of something that make people easiest to run their daily life and our targeted people is students in UTM. Doing this project is not easy at all because at the end of the semester we need to build some prototype of what idea we presents. From this I learn how to do the teamwork to make sure all task that been given were complete.

    And now we going to the biggest challenge or task which is the third project ‘Online Business’. Personally, its just a big wow for me because I will running my own business and have my own little shop although its online. As you know, when we want to open a shop its absolutely need to be registered with the government because without registered, our business will be illegal. So, we registered with SSM then we got a document that be our ‘licensed’ to running the business legal. We created our own Facebook page and keep promoting our page to gain some likers and followers. Then we promote our product then since there is a lot of requests our sales also increase. Although its only take a short time which is just 3 months but our sales can reach more than one thousands ringgit. For me that was incredible. After that we finished our final task by making report throughout running this online business.

Starting the syllabus with knowing new things such as NABC and BMC techniques. NABC stands for Need, Approach, Benefits and Competition while BMC is Business Model Canvas. We are divided into group of 5 to do our projects. 3 projects were given and guided early of this semester by Dr Sabrina. As we moving on, project 1 and 2 are involving our thinking skills and communication skills. 

So, for project 3 we are required to do an online business which cost half of our coursework marks because it is connected to MDEC. As for my group, we named our online business as sweet story shop. we decided to sell desserts as students love sweet things to help them focus when studying. For the first week, we make all of our dishes by ourselves but for the second week, we realised that we could not cope with the cooking and grocery shopping. So we decided to order from a supplier for our next order. It was so challenging for me to get customers but Im not giving up that easily since Dr Sabrina taught us how to take care good business. I followed all the step she gave and finally made it to the end. It was quite satisfying to actually know that I was wrong. Entrepreneurship is not that bad. It was actually great journey for me. Project 3 basically taught students to manage our time properly which I need to study for tests but still need to manage our business. 

Lastly, I would like to thank Dr Sabrina for making this subject interesting till the end. Thank you Dr!

At first, Dr. Sabrinah came into the class and was strict with us. She had high expectations for all of us. Immediately I felt that this course will be yet another troublesome subject which will drag me down this semester. But later I found out that Dr. was a very fair person. She told us that she was willing to help us to score with excellence in this course as long as we gave full cooperation to her teachings. The first task that she gave us was to introduce ourselves to her on padlet. I think that this was a fun session as we get to see and laugh about our friends’ photos as well as to know more about each other. 

            Next, she taught us about NABC, which is Need, Approach, Benefit and Competition of a business. This was when I found out that business is just like engineering, in engineering we try to find problems in real life and try to solve it using our knowledge. In business, we see problems faced by people, and we provide services or products that will ease that problem. After this I began to enjoy the course and the challenges that comes with the new experiences. In NABC, we learnt that not only we have a Need in business, we need to have an approach on how to promote our services or products to our potential customers, then we need to list out the benefits that our customers can receive, as well as what our products and services can do better than our competition so that we can be competitive in the market. For our NABC our team came out with carwash service in UTM, which I think was beneficial to both UTM students and staffs and we provide delivery services for the carwash service which was creative, I think.

            After that, we have to do our BMC (Business Model Canvas), we need to list out all the details of what we did for our NABC. For example, we need to make sure who was our targeted customers, what kind of relationship should we have with them, through what channels we should use to approach them and so on. I think that this was a good lesson as we learnt how to plan out our business in detail which will simplify the way we do business. We analyze the problems and find solutions to fix them. Finally, is our project 3 which I think was the most fun part of this course. We get to set up our own business and earn money. Our group set up a balloon shop and we managed to sell a lot of balloons during convocation and we also managed to sell some more after convocation, which we expected the sales of balloons to drop drastically. I think that this was a very good learning experience for someone like me because I do not have an experience in selling anything previously. Now I learnt a lot about setting up a online shop and how to promote our products, as well as keeping a good record on our sales for easier data analyzing. I thank Dr. for teaching us as she was very informative and was very helpful.

This course is divided into 3 parts – project 1, project 2 and project 3. Before doing the projects/assignments, all of us are requested to form a group with 4 members. Later then, each group is assigned with project 1 which is interviewing an experienced entrepreneur. For our group, we interviewed Madam Chuan, owner of Orange Pharmacy. Madam Chuan shared her business and life experience with us. She stated that determination is the most important key in business world. Determination is important in making decision and helps us to be persistent in what we are doing.  All the information obtained during interview is listed in the poster and presented to the class. From this project, I have enhanced my photoshop; presentation and communication skills.

For project 2, each team are requested to propose a business idea which fulfills the requirements of NABC and BMC. NABC is need, approach, benefit and competition while BMC, business model canvas is the basic of starting up a business.  Our group came up with opening a family mart franchise in KDSE, UTM. This is because most UTM-ians doesn’t have their own transport and the nearest market is quite a distance from KDSE. From this project, I learnt many knowledge and important thing about starting up a business. 

For project 3, every group have requested to set up an online business. Our group decided to run a sliced fruit business in UTM. After that, we registered our business at SSM and set up a Facebook page of our business. We designed our own logo and posters to promote our business. From this project, I have learnt on how to register a business at SSM; creating a Facebook page. Additionally, throughout this project, I had enhanced my soft skills; IT skills; and also a little of business skills.

Last but not least, I would like to thanks my lecturer, my course mates and especially my teammates for helping me throughout this semester.

At first, when I was being told on three projects that we are required to complete them within a semester, I believed it was going to be tough. For the first project, my teammates and I did an interview session with an experienced entrepreneur, Madam Ivy, who has run a photocopy and printing service for more than 10 years. From what I see, the behind of this project is to show us a rough overview of starting a business and being an entrepreneur. From the interview session, I learnt patient, determination and never give up are three important key to be success. Madam Ivy shared a lot motivating tips that needed by a new start up which encouraged my team a lot. Next for project 2, it was NABC and BMC presentation. During the classes, I was taught about NABC approach which an acronym stands for Need, Approach, Benefit and Competition. What I get after the lesson is it was not as easy as ABC to plan out a serious business but NABC approach could help so much in order to avoid any lacking and how to generate brilliant business idea.  I was also learnt how to present my business idea effectively. 

The Entrepreneurship subject also taught me how powerful the teamwork and determination can be. Project 3 is the toughest project, even compared to other subjects’ projects. It took the whole semester long, starting from brainstorming for business idea until presentation of our business sale report. As I have mentioned entrepreneur and business are not scope, but after I have done with project 3, it taught me a lot of new experiences and soft skill especially on how to interact with customers, how to deal with strangers in professional way and importantly on how to overcome problem within a group. It was a great experience for me as this was my first time handling a business by my own. All the hardship we faced during the business period has left a big impact toward me.  

Last but not least, I would like to express my gratitude toward Dr Sabrinah for being the best lecturer ever. I believed Dr has done more than teaching and guiding us, not only focus on entrepreneurship knowledge. I would also thank my supportive teammates who have been together from the beginning of every projects and helped me a lot in many ways. Experience and memories throughout this semester are so precious, knowledge I gained from every classes made them more valuable.

After the interview section, we were required to start up our own business in UTM. Before this, I do not have any experience on managing a business. Therefore, I felt very scare and lost when I knew that I need to start a business in UTM for one and a half months. I had no idea on how to start up a business and what should I do for my business. But luckily, our lecturer Dr Sabrinah, taught us step by step on how to start up a business throughout this few months. Dr Sabrinah had taught us on what is NABC, what is BMC and also the ways to start up our business. She gave us advices on how to managing our business. She is very passion in teaching and advising us. Therefore, at here, I would like to express my gratitude to Dr Sabrinah as she is really a good lecturer. Next, I would also like to thank to my teammates because they are the one who completed all the project together with me. I appreciate to have teammates like them because they show their commitment and support throughout the whole semester.

After some discussion, we decided to start a food delivery service inside UTM. We start to find our partner restaurant, deal with the boss and finally come out with our menu. For our first delivery service, things was not so well arranged. We were panic and the whole delivery process was chaotic. We felt so tired after the first delivery service. Therefore, we make some arrangement and improvements for our second delivery service. For our second delivery service, everything become smoother and our delivery service had become more efficient.

Throughout the whole project, I had learnt many things. First of all, I had learnt on how to deal with different kind of people with a more proper ways. Besides that, I also learnt on how to make an attractive poster to attract more customers. For me, poster is the main things to attract our customers. Furthermore, I also learn on how to work in a group. To work in a group, we need to communicate well and be more empathy among the group members. Besides, I also learn on how to manage a small business through this course. I hope I will have chance to start my own business in the future. 

Last but not least, thank you our lecturer, Dr Sabrinah and also my teammates.

 

Dr. Sabrina through the many activities has taught us how to refine our product and our direction. She taught us how the initial focus in starting a business such as deciding our targeted customer and identifying the current problem and needs of consumer. She has also taught us to be smart with our time that spur us to start running our online business with time in mind. 

 

Going on to project 3, it was a rough start, with a lot of confusion in the beginning. We could not quite confidently start running our business straight off that resulted in delay in startup. We first have to approach the restaurant bosses to ask them if they would like to partner with our delivery services. Through the experience, I have learned how to communicate with them and try to bargain with them for a better offer such as discount. As we officially run our first day of delivery there were quite a few unforeseen problem due to our lack of proper planning and lack of experience. But through those time that I learn to cope under panicking situation and stays calm. As we kept going with the online business, we start to understand what we were going to arrange and set up beforehand and the delivery service start to become easier. But managing our business as the same time while studying is still not easy. We have to consider both our study and online business so not to neglect one over the other. That spur me to plan wisely and think much more ahead. The business itself have led me to learn how to plan and think ahead so to be prepare for sudden arising problem. It has also cause me to think more creatively in thinking of catchy captions and how to promote our services. After running the online business, it led me to the understanding of how hard it is to earn money.

During NABC and BMC lecture class, I initially thought that these methods are not relevant to business class. However, after I knew about NABC (Need, Approach, Benefit and Competition) and BMC (Business Model Canvas), I felt that it is useful for us to set up a business. NABC and BMC required us to present and deliver all our business idea in a single PowerPoint slide and these have trained us to think critically and out of box to deliver our idea. Our group decided to come up a business idea of opening a car sharing platform. We are required to figure out why we decide to establish our business and came out a solution to fix the problem arises during the establishment of our business.

For Project 1, we have interviewed a successful entrepreneur who has involved himself in property field for more than 5 years and have received several awards. From the interview, I have learnt that never afraid failure as we are still young. We must be brave to embrace any challenges upon on us on our future life. Besides, we must have passion and determination when doing things. With passion and determination, we can solve any problems with enthusiastic mindset. Besides, the entrepreneur also emphasizes that we need to plan well our future as he always thinking about what he is going to do next.

Finally, for Project 3, I felt is quite heavy for us as its weightage of marks is half of our whole UHAK course. Talk about Project 3, it basically requires us to establish our business and require us to hit certain amount of sales target. At first, I thought that establish a new business will be quite easy however, after I have gone through some processes like go to Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia (SSM) to register our business in order not to violate Malaysia law. Besides, we also need to manage our business through social media by posting some teaser, soft sales and hard sales posts in order to attract more customers. We decided to sell desserts as we all agreed that desserts are hardly get in UTM and desserts are the best solution to fix this hot weather. During the first few weeks, we decided to self-prepare for the desserts however as the time goes by, more and more assignments and tests pile up and we have decided to directly sell the desserts from a vendor that we managed to find in Taman Universiti. Luckily, we managed to get a total of sales of RM 1336.80 and these made us felt that our hard work paid off.

In short, I have known more about how to establish a business and manage a business and learnt more about some soft skills such as team working and communication skills during this UHAK class. Last but not least, I am glad and felt thankful and grateful to have a nice lecturer and teammates during this UHAK class. Glad to be part of this UHAK class.

            After I had my first few entrepreneurship class, I knew that it was totally different from what my senior told to me. At the first class, we had the ice breaking section. This section was quite fun because all of us need to upload our profile picture and personal detail to the padlet. For the second class, Dr Sabrinah was asked us to post a photo at Facebook and hastag some sentences. After having this two classes, I felt that this was not that boring like I thought before.

            Within this funny and relax atmosphere, I also had learn that what we should done before starting a business. Dr Sabrinah had taught us the Need, Approach, Benefit and Competition (NABC) and Business Model Canvas (BMC). She also asked us to figure out a business idea and write down NABC and BMC of this business idea. At first, our business idea always been rejected maybe because not that special. At the end, we came out a business idea which is delivery carwash service and been approved. For this NABC and BMC of the business idea, we also need to present it to Dr Sabrinah. Due to my first presentation was lack of prepare, so for this second presentation, I was fully prepared for it, our group done our prototype and I also had prepared for it 1 week before the presentation to avoid the fault I done at first presentation.

            For the project 3, we really need to set up an online business. This was very surprise me. As I said at first paragraph, I thought that we just need to sell something in only a day but the reality is we need to set up an online business. Our online business was selling beautiful and attractive balloon. We came out this online business because that few week had the convocation section especially UTM convocation. At that few week, our sales were quite nice but after the convocation, our sales were drop quite sharply. Due to our target customer were birthday celebration or propose purpose, so not that many people buy but luckily still got sales.

            Actually I have learned a lot of thing in project 2 and project 3. However for project 1, I have learned nothing even though we interview an success entrepreneur  but what they saying actually almost the same what I have read from book and internet because I will read something that related to business and the investment. However, I have learned more in the project 3 that how to handle an online business and what I should do before starting an online business. So this was a very nice experience
 for me and I am very appreciate that having this type of experience.

            Last but not least, I am glad to be one of the UHAK1032-14 and thanks to Dr Sabrinah for having us.

            Dr. Sabrinah taught me the attitude to respect others speaking in front.  She took this serious by no phone in her class except due to project or task needed, no talking in class and listening to others presentation or her teaching to ensure we had 100 per cent concentrate in order for the information to deliver clear and no repetition.  Even though she looks serious in class but actually she is kind and easy to approach when we have questions to ask regarding the project.  Then, Dr. Sabrinah would also share her own or her students experiences in doing an entrepreneur in order for our project to be perfect but reality.  She would also give comments regarding our project and gives us time to repair and edit a newer version.  

            For project 3, first our group plan to sell flower.  However, the competition is too strong thus we came out with another idea which is food delivery services.  At the beginning of running this service, we face lots of problems such as we can’t find near and desired restaurant to cooperate for the food delivery.  Thus, we spent some time to find and research for food that may cooperate and would have market among UTM students.  We did a simple poll survey on our page in order to determine which restaurant to be used.  After that, we met the boss and discuss for the discount for the food and beverages.  After that, we start to run our business about 2 to 3 days per week.  Initially, our services didn’t run smooth and quite time consuming, however after several time, we had experiences in sorting the food and beverages in a better manner and able to deliver the food faster.  Besides, we also face problems since we clash our test schedule.  After retime, we found that our sales are not as good as first week we doing promotion price.  From here, I learn that even though a business may be flexible in working time but the profit would not as stable as we works for monthly salary, there are sometime we have extra profit and sometime no profit at all.  Throughout this project, I learn to sort and analyse information faster, besides, I need to manage my time wisely to avoid last minute job and late, because it will affect our business reputation.
