We have seated with our group members and discuss about Chapter 1 notes which is Introduction of Networking. Platform or application that we use to presenting is MindMeister instead of using Microsoft Powerpoint. MindMeister is a web-based application to create a mind map. Dr. Harry explain about the Virtual Private Network (VPN) which is the function is to create encrypted connection over public network. It is also maintain privacy through security procedures and tunneling protocols.

Next, Dr. Harry teach about the network topology which has 5 topology which is Star topology, Bus topology, Ring topology, Mesh topology and Tree topology. Dr. Harry said fully mesh is most relevan and good topology because their nodes and hub used their own connection.

Lastly, Dr. Harry teach us abput the types of computer network, LAN, MAN, WAN and last but not least is PAN. Then, Dr. Harry teach us about the order of that 4 types of computer networks. Diagram below is an order start from WAN to PAN.

Today in the lab class Dr Harry teach us about the OSI Model and the function of all the OSI Model. Basically, OSI has 7 layer which start from Layer 1 until Layer 7. From layer 1 we could see the physical layer which consist of the cabling such as copper cable, fibre optic to interconnects the data. Moving on the layer 2 we have a Data Link layer which it has the hardware which is switch. It interconnects the interner from the server to the host. The OSI Layer continue as per below:

Layer 3: Network (it used to spread the internet connection from the server to the host or user using the device (ROUTER).
Layer 4: Transport (it used to break or compress the data into packets)
Layer 5: Session (establish n terminate the connection)
Layer 6: Presentation (Conversion of the data)
Layer 7: Application (apps and database system)

Next, we have been lecture about the Bandwidth and Throughput. As per Dr. Harry, BANDWITH is the size that user could get but the THROUGHPUT is a actual size tha user can get. It is depend on the factors that influence the connection between the ISP and the user (home, office, school, uni). The factors the could influence the network connection as per below:

Distance

Weather

Area (Urban, Suburban)

Types of data

Types of cable
