Spirituality to me is the well-being of yourself and keeping your spirits at a high level via engaging in things like meditation, yoga, calming activities, prayer, etc. opposed to indulging in materials. The song was designed for people who may be lost, confused or unsure, to lift their understanding of why they’re here, where the can go and how. And I’m almost certain that anyone can agree that this song sings a great truth. This is exactly the reason I’ve chosen this song because at times where I feel lost I listen to this song to be reminded that we really do have purpose. I use this song also to calm down and to think about the ‘big questions in life’. As a big believer in God I appreciate this passage. ‘Trust in Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding’. When I reconnect with my spirituality I believe I reconnect with The Lord and a part of knowing myself is knowing God and his plans for me and I really do strongly believe that. Christ is in us, in everyone so what do we know if we don’t know Christ? Referring back to the art piece, I mentioned that I feel lifted in my spirituality when I help others and ‘lighting a lamp’ for someone else is an act upon that. My spirit is enlightened and I’m doing the good work of The Lord when I’m aiding others and brightening their spirits. It is prayer by which is a solemn request for help or expression of thanks addressed to God or another deity and branching off that it also can form a religious service at which people gather in order to pray together. According to The Huffington Post, conducted research shows that people who are more religious or spiritual use their spirituality to cope with life, heal faster from illness and experience increased benefits to their wellbeing and health. When I use meditation, my intention is to relax and escape the stressful reality I sometimes encounter. The prayer is ‘Lord God, Creator of light, at the rising of your sun each morning, let the greatest of all lights – your love – rise, like the sun, within my heart’. This prayer is a Hindu prayer, and I appreciate this as it asks for forgiveness from their Lord and the reason I appreciate it is because I can relate to it. By the way I nurture my spirituality is through prayer and I can incorporate this into my prayers and repent and knowing The Lord’s mercy I feel refreshed and given another chance to do the right thing. ]]> 2017-03-09 04:14:16 UTC https://padlet.com/18henar/paah9ksuxhp7/wish/158865609 Catholic Christian Eucharistic Liturgy 18henar https://padlet.com/18henar/paah9ksuxhp7/wish/158865766 The Catholic Christian Eucharist Liturgy is held on special occasions to give an expression of thanks or make a solemn request for help. The liturgy is to also remind us of our faith and support us through the challenges we encounter. The masses acknowledge the simplicity of the school and the Catholic education provided. I believe Mount A does well in carrying out this service as every time I leave at the end I feel immersed and rich in the power of Christ and it’s definitely safe to say the liturgy plays a big part in nurturing my spirituality. Liturgy has become the source of the spiritual life of believers. For only by living from the liturgy can I receive the nourishment necessary to maintain my life of faith in today’s world. 
 
From the introductory rites, I always appreciate the element of the entrance song because it gets me into the headspace and allows me to feel the vibe. It begins with a hymn or psalm and the entire procession is a means of focusing and calling the people to prayer thus having a sense of being gathered before the liturgy commences. 
Further in the beginning of a Catholic Mass, it will be signalled coming into session where a person will light the college candle and the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candle. Over years they have decided that including this feature is highly respectful as it acknowledges the traditional owners of the land and the community of Mount Alvernia college of which we are a part of. As I have Aboriginal blood, I feel respected and recognised and that type of recognition sustains my spirituality.
 
Many words of truth are said to us during the liturgy, “God’s holy people, you will have strength”, this says to us as followers of Christ that we need to find our spiritual strength as we journey through life encountering challenges but with faith in Christ. The significance of our spiritual side with Christ is that we can fully give our problems to Christ and have faith that He will aid us. 
 
During the Liturgy, the Priest blessed us with holy water. This symbolises gratefulness and brings a sense of purity to our spirituality by which we need to feel that to continue forth and face our problems without bearing weight from the past. Throughout the Eucharist I truly felt immersed in the unconditional love from God and for God. I idolise Jesus and aspire to be like Him and be inspired by his actions to The Lord’s good work. Mount Alvernia does exceptional in presenting this Eucharist and it’s seen not as a performance but a ceremony of request and thanks. 
 
To conclude, Mount Alvernia’s Catholic Liturgy not only activates my spirituality but takes care of it through their service and the element they use whether it’s a sprinkle of holy water, lighting of a candle, singing a hymn, sign of the cross etc. For me it strengthens my spirituality as the words of God bring me hope and faith and motivate me to live with purpose and reason.
