at fuse box a venue in Kingston the actors created an immersive piece where the audience followed the actors around the venue to watch various scenes of their piece. for this project i had the role of lighting designer and operator which was more challenging as i had to think outside the box and create various scenes with lighting pars and fixed lights instead of using a lighting board connected to stage lights, i had to use multi tasking skills to do production communication whilst setting up my lights and helping with set and props at the same time i created many blocks of lights for different moods such as a strobe red light for the intense war scene, a pink lighting mood for the party and a purple light for eerie scenes. we used production communication across the months that led up to the project, this used our time management skills as we had to get certain things done in order to progress to the technical side of things ,using ideas for the scenes so i could get an idea of lighting different moods. we also included dress rehearsals where i could really test and improve the lighting effects in all the scenes. this worked as we applied our collaboration skills. During the dress rehearsal this tested my resilience skills as i had to wait for actors to block certain scenes in order for me to do my work and i had to change some things/readjust

EXPLAINING THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WITHIN THE PEFORMING ARTS INDUSTRY

The roles of my chosen industry (lighting/sound design) can involve different responsibilities dependant on your job. I currently work as a lighting and stage technician at new Wimbledon theatre where I am on contract and get paid hourly salaries. however jobs such as a technician on a touring company, you can be paid an hourly or annual salary and then you also will need to work on your own invoice for your expenses that come with working such as meals, travel and accommodation. And then with a freelance technician, you will charge them your own invoice involving an agreed paid rate which can be hourly, for the whole gig, included equipment hire and accommodation/travel. as a technician these are some of the possibilities I will experience as I grow and gain more experience in different jobs within my chosen role.

DIVERSITY OF THE PEFORMING ARTS WORKFORCE

As a technician, when you are hired, you are hired based on your experience, availability and abilities. these creates a diverse work atmosphere and leads to working with all different kinds of people whether their ethnicity, gender, disability or sexuality. however in other areas of the performing arts industry such as a dance, it is unfortunate not as diverse and there are still big issues with racism and body positivity. a lot of dance companies avoid hiring ballerinas that aren't white with unrealistic body weight. therefor not being solely based on talent like in the technical theatre field.
