Born on Jan 28, 1985. At an American military base in germany.

Jermaine Cole's father was an African-American veteran, who served the military. His father later abandoned them at just 8 months and moved to the United States with his mother and brother. Cole started rapping as early as 12 years old and saw it as a profession when his mother purchased him a music sampler. After graduating high school he moved to New York to increase his chances of securing a record contract.

This lyric is inspirational to me because sometimes i can be an issue or a headache to talk to friends or family but they are always there for me and correct me on it.

Jermaine Lamarr Cole , famously known as "J. Cole" is an artist and producer born in Germany and raised in Fayette, North Carolina. Cole gained attention as a rapper when he released his debut mixtape "The come up" in early 2007. With cole's full intention of becoming a rapper, he signed to Jay Z's record label "Roc nation" in 2009. Then released two more mixtapes "The Warm Up" in the 2009 and "Friday Night Light" in 2010. They were both critical acclaimed mixtapes and gained a wider following. Each of Cole's studio albums would peak the US billboard 200 on their release, beginning with his first studio album "Cole World: The Sideline Story" in 2011. Followed up by his second album "Born Sinner" in 2013. Both albums received critical acclaim and made hit singles such as "Work out", "Power Trip" and "Crooked smile" with each single reaching within the top 40 on the US billboard top 100. Cole decided to move away a little from pop music to focus more on his following albums where he explores the theme of nostalgia, racial inequality, and materialism in "2014 Forest Hill Drive", 4 Your Eyez Only (2017) and KOD (2018). And his career received continued critical acclaim in 2021 with the release with his sixth studio album "The Off-Season" and in 2023 reached his further success with his feature on lil durk's "All My Life" and Drake's "First Person Shooter".

J. Cole is my favorite artist because he inspires me to always remain honest and humble and never forget where i came from. I also relate to a lot of his music and I am deeply inspired by his production in music. He has never had a bad album or feature and I think his discography isn't praised enough and that is why i want to do a case study on him.

In February 2020. Cole announced his partnership with puma as an ambassador of the brand. On July 31st, Cole and puma released their debut footwear. The RS-dreamer. A basketball shoe made with the intention of the highest level of on court performance.

Growing up inspired by Nas, Tupac, Canibus and Eminem, him and his cousin worked on understanding word play and rhyming. He claimed Jay-Z was a mentor to him before he even signed to him so he already picked up alot. Cole made comparisons to nas in his mixtape "Friday Night Lights".

This is a lyric from "Work Out" on his debut album. Meaning the female J. Cole is referring too has deep feelings or love for him but Cole explains that commitment is something he's not gonna do and he was there for a good time.... as friends of course.
