Then there was this one day we started going to a spanish speaking Christian church. From there we moved states and started going to an english speaking Christian church. When I was fourteen my mom decided I should be baptized but I didn't really know what it meant. When I was around fifteen I didn't understand religion and I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a part of one. When I moved to Utah about two years ago I met my friend Ruth who is a Christian. A year ago she convinced me to go to a non-denominational Christian church called Fresh Life. I've been a member since and I have never felt so whole. I now understand what it means to have faith and walk with God. My mom met my dad when she was 17 and he was in his late 20's, almost 30. Before my dad met my mom he had three girls with his previous wife. They're all older than me and are now married with kids. Their names are Yessika, Melissa, and Nancy. She had my oldest brother Alex, who is basically my other half, when she was 18. She then had me at 21 and my sister Aalyah when she was 25. When I was around 5 my dad and my mom got a divorce. When I was 7 or 8 she met my awesome step-dad who I now call dad. He was also previously married and had three kids, two girls and one boy, which makes them my step-siblings. Their names are Yvette, Diego, and Marissa, which is funny because my name is Marissa. While my mom and step-dad were together my dad met another woman. My dad had a a little girl with this woman which makes her my half sister, I haven't seen her since I was 10. My mom and step-dad ended up having my little sister and brother who are 18 months apart, their names are Ariana and Daniel. As much as I say I hate being a girl, I actually love it. I am a strong feminists and I have been since I was a kid. I obviously didn't know I was feminists until I was 15 but when I found out it all made sense. When I was a kid my mom raised three of us and had three jobs and she always told me she can do it by herself. My mom doesn't call herself a feminists but she is a huge reason why I am one. She was so independent I was in awe. I believe in equality in every way and I'm glad I do. I do love listening and finding new music on free time. Music has always been such a big factor in my life, especially my families life. I remember as a kid there was just music playing constantly. My aunts and uncle would com over and there was always music. I remember dancing and singing with my family almost every weekend. Even today when we have family over or if we visit family we're always listening to music. I listen to music when I'm doing homework, cleaning, painting, etc. When I'm in the car there's always music playing. I listen to so many genres and I put everything in one playlist. Every time I share my playlist with people they're always confused with the varieties I have. Her first language was spanish and so was mine, along with my two full siblings. I learned more english when I started pre-school and it got better from there. I had a thick accent until I moved to Nebraska. After a year or two my accent went away and so did my moms and my two siblings. My mom is still fluent in spanish and my older brother is still pretty good at it. My sister and I, along with my two younger half siblings, kind of suck at spanish. I can understand when someone is speaking in spanish but I can't really speak it. We still do a lot of Mexican traditions and we still cook a ton of Mexican food. We also buy a ton of Mexican candy. We always make tamales for Christmas, along with Mexican hot chocolate. We always cook with chorizo and tortillas.
