  1. The initial macrophage response
  • Takes place in the first week after the inhalation of the TB bacillus. 
  1. The growth stage
  • TB bacilli start reproducing exponentially, meaning that for every initial bacillus two new ones emerge.

3.    The immune control stage

  • The body brings in more immune cells to stabilize the site, and the infection is under control.

4.    The lung cavitation stage

  •  The primary complex does not heal and the TB bacilli become reactivated after a period of 1 to 2 years after the initial infection

  • Natural light
  • Good ventilation
  • Fresh air
  • The BCG vaccine

Tuberculosis is not a genetic disease, however if a family member has it, and there is overcrowding in a home among other risk factors, another family member is more likely to get it.
