BEC offers a range of trauma-informed tools and materials for staff in schools and education settings to support your continuing professional development, your wellbeing, and your work with children and young people (CYP) around mental health and wellbeing. With access to blogs, resources, podcasts, and videos, we aim to offer support in a format that works best for you.

We provide a range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for staff:

Blogs

Booklets

Activities and Posters

Wakelets

Podcasts

Videos

We have organised our resources by themes: mental health and wellbeing, bereavement, grief, loss and change, trauma, and staff wellbeing.

BEC strives to collaborate on the development of resources with a range of practitioners and organisations working within education, as well as with CYP directly. Contributions have been made by experts in their fields - some of the relationships we have established are with the University of the West of England and BATOD.

We hope that these resources support you in facilitating conversations with CYP around mental health and wellbeing, offering a framework to explore complex emotions and feelings. We have intentionally left age ranges open for many of our booklets and activities, as they can be adapted to suit various developmental stages. The use of props/real objects, where appropriate, will enhance the learning experience.

Whilst resources play a valuable role in supporting learning around key topics such as mental health, grief, bereavement, loss, change, and trauma, the most important resource is the adult guiding the CYP - bringing their own skills, knowledge, empathy, and values to the interaction. Positive relationships are essential for all babies, children, and young people. Through these connections, they learn to feel safe, develop a sense of belonging, and begin to understand themselves and others. We believe that strong, supportive relationships are at the core of creating environments that promote positive mental health and wellbeing for everyone.

At BEC we greatly value any feedback received; connecting and listening to staff about what you want and need enables us to provide content that is responsive to both the needs of CYP and the staff supporting them. Please complete this feedback form if you have accessed any of the BEC resources (blog, booklet, activity, poster, Wakelet, podcast, or video).
