Do you think students will get too caught up in the technology use, and begin to not listen to the lessons?

I do fear that that may be the case if we are not careful. I think that when using technology in the classroom we, as teachers, need to monitor the students carefully, and only use technology when it is legitimately useful to the lesson.

I know from experience that I do not always pay attention in class when I am allowed to use computers or laptops. If you technology is short spells and not go total integration of technology then I think students will perceive and use it properly. Young students still like to learn and are fascinated by moving objects and technology. I say use it but do not go overboard and ask questions frequently to make sure they are paying attention.

I think that as long as the students are engaged with activities that are helping them learn in the process, then the entire "getting caught up in the technology" wont be an issue. But if they are playing with something that isn't educational or even for the class at all, then that's when it will be a problem. I also believe that this will be a situation where half of the kids will work well with it and the others wont do so great. Like in the classroom, half of the students listen and do as they're supposed to and the others are talking or passing notes or sleeping.

I think that there is always a possibility for that to happen, but it probably depends on the age and interest level of the students. Older students are probably more likely to abuse technology versus younger students. And I also think that younger students might be more interested in a lesson featuring technology than an older student because the older students are so accustomed to technology that it becomes mundane in their lives.
