Both dogs keep fighting over the bone because Winkle touched it first, but Nap saw it first. They go around asking all kinds of people and animals "whose bone is it?" None of the other characters in the story really cared and just used Winkle and Nap for things they needed help with after the all different characters told them they would tell them whose bone it is after they helped them.  At the end of the story they still could not figure out whose bone it is, so they just decided to share it. This story teaches children to share and that it is easier to share than to go through trouble and still not get an answer to whose it is.

Chanticleer is very stubborn and has a strong sense of cockiness. A Fox has been watching him from far away and knows exactly how to get him where he wants him and that is flattering him. The Fox asks Chanticleer to sing for him and while he sings the Fox grabs him by the neck and drags him into the forest. Chanticleer eventually gets away from the Fox by tricking him and flying away to the nearest tree. This story teaches children to not trust everyone who tries to flatter you or be your friend. Always be aware of your surroundings.

He went all seasons without seeing anyone, including his parents. One day his parents ate on the rock that was Sylvester. His parents put the red pebble on the rock and Sylvester wished to be his normal self again and his wish came true. This story teaches children to be satisfied with what you have. It could also teaches think before you do and be careful what you wish for.

His plan failed when all the animals fell and were all mad at Rabbit. No matter what Rabbit does, he is always causing trouble, but he will always be Mouse's friend. This story teaches children about friendship and dealing with friends like Rabbit.

Nothing happens the first time he makes the call, but the second time they both hear echos back and the owl lands just above their heads. The bird offers them a new life in paradise and after being undecided they accepted the offer. They were transported to a beautiful island in the sky. Al and Eddie were amazed and living at ease, until they started to turn into birds. Al flew back home and when he made it home he realized Eddie was not with him. Al turned around and he saw that Eddie swam back and found his way home. This story teaches children there is no place like home.
