1. For the most challenging students flexible grouping is not enough.
2. The best schools are using lots of assessments. The best teachers come into the classroom with a variety of strategies and take each child specifically and find out which strategy will work best with each child.
3. They think it is best to keep struggling students in the classroom as best as you can, because they could be missing something beneficial in the classroom.
4. Schools can sometimes focus to much on the struggling readers instead of the higher-level students, which will put the higher-level students at a disadvantage. The focus needs to be spread out.
5. When dealing with students that are non-English language learners, you want to find out what they already know in their language and teach them based off that.

· 1. Assessment is the root process of differentiated instruction. You use assessments to see where each student is at, so you can differentiate your instruction accordingly to meet the needs of those students. 2. How you teach your students and if you include differentiated instruction will determine how far off the learning gap is between all students in the classroom. 3. The best teachers always monitor the student’s day by day to see how they respond to activities and instruction, so they can modify it later.
