Quote: " This was Nya's daily routine, seven days out of the year." pg. 20 Chapter 4. In the years only women could get the water from the pond and this can effect Nya because that means any women or little girl could not get an education. This quote is gender because only females get water and out of 7 months it's only most of the day getting water.

Quote:
" Nya's father and older brother, Dep, went off to hunt." pg. 33 Chapter 6. The culture of the men was to go to school, go and walk the cows and do their chores. Most men were hunters so, during the dry season they would have to go hunting, which is very disastrous because men and Teenagers were forced to hunt and they could be killed while hunting. This quote shows culture because other than the around the house and fetching water, the guy's do the most work with cattle, hunting and even selling items.
