I agree with Matsuda when she spoke of college students being prone to physiological change when they are exposed to different types of hate speeches. The induction freshman is a pivotal time in students time because they are somewhat innocent thus when they're exposed to these hates they become prone to harm of their superego.

This shows that there's a deep hatred of some kind that can and will actually distract the students from their work. It can also lead to depression.

On page 153, she says, "Any university professor has tried..." and she again, basically discusses the need for safe spaces because it is very difficult for some professors and students to lead meaningful discussions due to fear and judgement and counterattacks.

I agree with the structure of her speech. For example, she started with what America as a nation stands for, and that is having freedom and equality. Then she translate to what is really happening in the campus and how that reflects the opposite of the constitution and Bill Of Rights. She was also able to connect with her audience by presenting some common issues of the campus life.

I believe that her using cases like Brown v. Board of Education made her argument stronger because in a way hate speech is separating the targeted groups. This also supports her idea of student having mental distress because of what they have to deal with in a place where they are supposed to feel safe.

I am in the middle about Matsuda's argument about regulating speech on college campuses. Part of me knows that it is in violation of people's first amendment rights but I also think that people should not be able to say threatening and harmful things.

I disagree with this because she IS recognizing the fact that the 1st adm. is freedom of speech; however, she is stating that if that freedom of speech is being used to cause harm, then it should be regulated, which indeed, it should be.
