The two types of ways they defend themselves is by synthesize toxin and accumulate toxin.accumulate toxin is used for getting food, while synthesize toxin is used for protection. Another defensive characteristic is camouflage. Organisms that camouflage themselves pretend to be something they are not. The last characteristic is Mimicry. Organisms that use mimicry resembles another organism to deceive their predator.

They can shoot this musky odor out of two of their glands. The reason why they spray this musky odor is to keep away predators or organisms they see as a threat. The Skunk can spray the odor 10-15 feet away because they don't want the predator to get too close to the before it is too late.
