Understanding one's truth can be vital to making a difference in society. By being true to oneself, one can be true to others. This leads to kindness, love, and care. Fr. Greg Boyle, a priest, is currently using his truth to help those part of gangs to find jobs. He is creating awareness while also spreading the Word of God. Through his kindness, others can be kind and find their truth. Like how one's truth can differ from another person, kindness is the same. Through simple communication, Fr. Boyle has touched and healed so many hearts. Being kind, genuine, and honest opens a door for others, as well as oneself, to find their truth.
        As people mature, their ideas and opinions may change. However, even after being in the Catholic faith for almost ten years, my spirituality and beliefs have not changed much. I continue to practice my spirituality by praying before bed, participating in Church, trusting and being kind to others, participating in Church, and doing service trips (i.e.: cancer society, humane society, water charity foundations). This allows me to see how our Earth and living creatures are being treated. Going to certain charitable events helps open my eyes and become more aware of society.
      Entering high school gave me even more charitable opportunities. My high school, Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy, advocates for community service and requires students to perform two different forms to have a well-rounded individual. FSHA also encourages young women to be truthful, loyal, and trusting of God. One of FSHA's mottos, F.I.T., urges women to be truthful to themselves and God, have deep-rooted morals, and to accept that people have different truths which can vary depending on their religion, social status, or their relationships with others. Over the course of semester one, I feel I have become more aware of the atrocities surrounding our society. For instance, I have learned about a strong and influential leader, Pope Francis. He has strong opinions on human trafficking, rape, and solitary confinement, calling them a “disrespect to human dignity.” Being honest and open like Pope Francis has led me, as well as many others, to be the same. 

         Moreover, participating in service, learning about important leaders, and being trustworthy and honest to God has allowed me to find my truth. We are all connected with each other, and God rests in each of us. God rests in Fr. Greg Boyle, Pope Francis, and all those who have spoken out against the injustices of society or have cared for others. Though certain days may seem worse than others, God is always with us and helping each one of us at our worse.
