It is undeniable that many youths wanted to learn how to speak, write, and read the Korean language nowadays due to Koreans way of life, and popular culture. In fact, the Department of Education even signed an agreement to teach Korean language in public high schools in the Philippines. Many youths agreed with that but some do not get the point of doing that.

Many people asks that is it right to teach Korean language when many youths do not even have enough knowledge about Tagalog? Filipino, a standardized form of Tagalog, is the country's official language and is taught in schools around the country. The language in the Philippines is so attractive and lovely and it is even announced that it is the sexiest accent in Asia and 21st sexiest accent in the world. Other people outside the country even say Tagalog language is soft and gentle, when they will hear it, they will find it simply lovely. So, why do the youth wants to learn Korean language when Tagalog language is simply lovely, right?

If Korea has Hangul, Japanese has Kanji, and China has Pinyin, of course, the Philippines have their own writing, too. It is called “Baybayin” but only few Filipinos knows about that. Many youth wanted to learn Hangul without even knowing that the Philippines have its own unique way of writing called Baybayin. In the Philippines, words in Baybayin script are printed on some clothing, posters, accessories, and even on the current batch of the Philippine Peso bills. Many have also started getting tattoos in Baybayin though it this system of writing is not familiar to the majority of the population. Learning how to write Baybayin is fun and interesting it is a great way to learn a new skill, as well as experience and learn from the past.

The Korean wave has definitely hit the Philippines hard because there are so many Korean restaurants that can be seen in the Philippines nowadays. Indeed, Korea has influenced the Filipinos a lot. But there is one thing that makes the Filipino cuisine unique – the food culture is very different from that of the Western world. Filipinos are voracious eaters who enjoy rice. Another thing that makes it unique is that Filipinos are fond of using hands instead of spoon and fork (it is called “kamayan” in Tagalog) when eating will make the food even delicious. Filipinos are very proud of the Filipino foods like sisig, balut, isaw, lechon, adobo, and more.
