For me, I feel like I have not done enough if I am not able to reach all of my students because I don't want to leave even one student behind. Trying to create some sort of routine for my students and consistency is important. From some parent conferences, I realize even more that our students are dealing with a lot in addition to school. In the classroom I could see that for myself within the first few days who took longer to get started, who needed me to go over the directions again, etc., but with remote learning starting the year I couldn't see that. I tried to check-in with those students who were turning in things late and/or not at all, but even those conversations didn't often do enough. I'm especially thinking of my ELL students. I know who they were, and they'd log in for class every day, but I couldn't tell that they were actually there and listening to us. We all know how important it is for ELLs to simply hear the conversations, so they can pick up on the language. It may be in their nature to help each other out.
