@Alex I think it's dependent on personality type, but ultimately, I think it's more difficult to forgive someone than to get revenge. Truly forgiving someone takes grace and an open mind. Also, little acts of revenge are easier to do- gossiping about the person, ignoring them, trying to turn people against them, etc. Many small modern-day acts of revenge are simple to complete, but true forgiveness takes serious thought.

It is also hard trying to stop getting angry at the beginning as well. This is what happened in The Poison Apple. The narrator tried to stop his anger but it just made it worse and it was hard trying to forgive and forget so the narrator's anger just grew.

In response to max's question, i believe that trust levels will vary from person to person. The level of trust has many factors that play into how a person perceives you. Say you have met a person for the very first time, You will not trust them until time has been spent with the person to prove they are trustworthy. Also, it depends on the person who is determining to trust. They may be more open, but some may be more conserved. " Here I knocked off the neck of a bottle that I drew from a long row of its
fellows that lay upon the mold. c
“Drink,” I said, presenting him the wine. He raised it to his lips with a leer. He paused and nodded to me familiarly, while his bells jingled.
“I drink,” he said, “to the buried that repose around us.” ". Fortunato is the type of person to trust easily as shown in the story. Montresor was able to get him drunk.
