He left his son Pedro to rule Brazil; he started to make some changes, declared independence, and became Emperor. Some people still supported Portugal and Portugal still had an army in Brazil which won the first war but surrendered from the second without a fight. During the wars, they began to feel more unified leading to revolutions. Later when Bismarck was appointed as chancellor in Prussia, he would allied with German states and when Prussia won against France he helped create a German Confederation. After the Napoleonic wars, some kingdom started wars for Italian unification, the first was unsuccessful but the second one wasn't. Later a man persuaded Giuseppe to invade Sicily where he was successful but he couldn't keep going because French troops were in Rome. But with the land he claimed, the Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed and due to other wars in France, they got Rome and Venice and declared Rome their capital.
