I chose this picture because it breaks their role down simply. Plants provide us with the things that we don't think about, but that we rely on for survival. In this particular video, the way he explains how photosynthesis takes place and the animations that he uses really help with understanding the more in depth parts of photosynthesis. The concept of photosynthesis (plants using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce glucose and release oxygen and water) is easy to grasp but understanding how that happens is where it gets confusing. Before they would have to follow the food (animals) as the animals migrated or they depleted the supply in an area. The agricultural (Neolithic) revolution allowed for more stability and security for the humans. This along with the better nutrition from reliable crops allowed the reproduction rates to increase as people were having more babies more rapidly. In the article it states that over 60 percent of anticancer drugs are natural products or have been developed from plant based properties. Taxol and vincristine work as chemotherapy drugs to inhibit the growth of the cancer cells in patients battling many different types of cancers.

The climate change is going to continue to shrink the polar ice caps, which will eventually flood most coastlines making them inhabitable. This will push the growing population closer together, creating more habitat destruction. Resources will quickly deplete as the needs for these moving populations will need to be met, killing off and forcing away the animals.
