Farmlands throughout Odisha, West Bengal, and some in Jharkhand were damaged by flooding. Railway and marine activities were halted due to Yaas.

#Hours before the landfall, in Digha, a coastal town of West Bengal, tall tidal waves breached embankments and flooded villages around a kilometre from the sea. Tajpur, Shankarpur and Mandarmani, all coastal towns were affected by the cyclone. Shops, huts, roads, resorts and hotels along the beach were damaged as the waves pounded them. Over 1,100 villages in West Bengal were submerged in floodwaters caused by storm surges, leaving an estimated 500,000 homeless.

Cyclone Tauktae /yaas
As we all know that in recent time we have dealt with a lot of storms and cyclone . Our country is surrounded by water from all 3 sides . This increases the chances of our coastlines getting hit by tropical storms and cyclones . The recent storms were tauktae from the Arabian sea and yaas from bay of bengal . As I live in patna , the effect were noticible of both the cyclones . The tauktae didn't had much affect here but yaas definitely gave creeps . In Bihar the wind was around 120 km/hr to 140km/hr . The Times of India said the winds were between 60km/hr in Patna . Lots of property was destroyed . Tauktae had 169 fatalities and yaas had 20 .
